Why can’t I connect to the server in LoL?

You cannot connect to the server in LoL because Riot’s server is most likely down.

Otherwise, you have a Firewall setting that still blocks LoL connections.

The LoL launcher uses a server alias which is problematic when connecting to the default DNS resolvers of some ISPs.

This usually happens to players outside the US, and the launcher may not download the patch.

To fix the “Unable to connect to server” error in League of Legends, you first need to check the status of Riot Games.

If Riot Games’ servers are down, you need to wait until they are back up.

If not, you can try turning off your firewall or changing your DNS.

You can also try running League of Legends as administrator.

Open Firewall & network protection > Allow apps through Firewall > Change settings > Allow other apps.
Enables “League of Legends”, “League of Legends (TM) App” and “Riot App”.

Control Panel > Network and Internet > Network and Sharing Center”.
Select “Change adapter settings” on the left navigation bar.
Right click on your network adapter and select “Properties”.
Select “Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)”, then select “Properties”.
At the bottom of the menu, change “Automatically obtain DNS server addresses” to “Use the following DNS server addresses:”.
Set the following public DNS servers, one in each field blank: 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4.
Select “Ok”, close all open applications and web browsers, and then press the Windows key.
Right click anywhere, click “All Applications”, right click “Command Prompt” and run as administrator.
Type “ipconfig /flushdns”, press Enter and restart your computer.

Open the Windows Start menu, search for “cmd”, right-click the Command prompt and select “Run as Administrator”.
Type ipconfig /release and press enter.
Type ipconfig /renew and press enter.
Type ipconfig /flushdns and press enter.
Close command prompt and try playing LoL.
