Zoom is definitely one of the most popular video communication tools in recent times (and we’ve published a GREAT guide to it). You can also record your meetings and sessions, and this feature makes it easy to review meeting details later. And unlike Skype, here the recordings don’t disappear after 30 days.
While Zoom also allows you to save meeting and session recordings in the Cloud, this option is only available for Business and Education accounts. If you don’t have one, these recordings are stored in the Local Drives of your Mac and PC.

How to find zoom recordings on Mac and PC
The good thing about Zoom is that the application interface is almost the same for both Mac and Windows PC.
Step 1: Open Settings by tapping the Cog icon in the upper right corner.
Click Record and you will see the local recording location.
Click Open and the Zoom folder on your PC or Mac will open immediately.
Step 2: The folder name has the date as a prefix, followed by the name of the host and the meeting ID. Double click on the icon and you will see the audio and video files.
By default, records are automatically stored in the Documents folder.
- Windows — C:\Users\Username\Documents\Zoom
- macOS — /Users/Username/Documents/Zoom
You can change that location. To do so, click Change or the drop-down menu and select a folder from the list.
However, if you want to save recordings to project related folders every time you record a meeting, the best option is to enable the ‘Select location to…’ option.
That allows you to choose a different location each time you have to save the file, thus saving you time in the long run.
How to Edit Zoom Record on Windows 10 PC
Since we are talking about local records here, editing them is child’s play. You don’t need to upload these logs to a third-party server in a complicated way. Instead, they can be edited within the safe confines of your PC.
If you’re looking to do something basic like trim the beginning and the end, or split a clip into two, the Microsoft Photos Video Editor will let you do it all.
Editing with it is an easy affair. What makes the deal even more appealing is the inclusion of features like Speed, Text, Filters, etc.
To edit the zoom record, follow the steps below.
Step 1: Click the More icon at the top and select the record you want to edit. Alternatively, you can also drag and drop live video. Once done, select the video and click the three-dotted button at the top.
Select the Place in the storyboard option from the menu.
Step 2: Once done with that, select the option of your choice. In my case, I chose to continue with Trim.
Click Trim and drag the Start and End markers to your liking. At this point you can also add text, motion, or some quirky filters.
Just click on the relevant icons above and you will see options on the side of your screen.
For example, if you want to add a specific piece of text to appear on a certain part of the video, add that text and then drag the markers to the point of your choice.
Once you’ve modified the entire video, click Done.
Pro Tip: You can even add a Title tag to your video to make it look more polished. This feature is very useful if you are looking to share this video.
Step 3: If you’re happy with the overall look of the video, click the End Video button in the far right corner, give the video a name and that’s it.
And yes, you can also choose the final video quality. Currently, Microsoft Video Editor allows you to choose between High (1080p), Medium (720p) and Low (540p).
It is worth noting that the original video will not be changed.

How to edit zoom recordings on a Mac
Likewise, on Mac you won’t need any professional video editor for this job. Instead, simple apps like iMovie will do the job well. Unlike the Windows tool, iMovie has a slick and simple interface.
Step 1: Once you’ve launched iMovie, tap the Plus icon at the top to create a new project.
Step 2: To access Zoom records, you must enter them manually. In addition, you will also need to grant permissions to the folder.
To do so, navigate to the folder where the recordings are saved.
Step 3: After importing the video, you will see all the options like Transitions, Background and Sound in the menu at the top.
To trim the movie, drag the handles and cut out the part you don’t need.
Similarly, to add a title and text, click on the option above and select the style of your choice. Once done, place it on the timeline and edit as needed.
The good thing about iMovie is that you don’t need to save the movie/video recording manually. To dump the file, click the Export button at the top and select the required option.
Pro Tip: Use the spacebar to play and pause the video as you edit.
