Just as you need a tool or software to extract text from an image, you also need a software to extract text from a PDF file. That’s because no PDF reader has a built-in option for that.
Let’s say for reference you need to copy text from a PDF file, then obviously, you can’t just copy and paste. This process is a bit complicated. You need to convert it to a text file first. A free tool called A-PDF does exactly that. You can extract text from PDF file with A-PDF easily.
Download and install this small application on your computer. Click the “Open” button and select the PDF file on your computer.
It will display the location of the file and the page number on its interface. Press the “Extract Text” button to start the process. It takes a few seconds depending on the size of the PDF file to get the text out.
You can select the starting page range from which you want to extract the text. For example, if you want to extract page number 4 to page 6, enter numbers 4 and 6 in the box titled “Page from”. There is also an option to extract text from even and odd pages.
You can also intelligently rearrange PDF files using the corresponding option.
After converting, a small dialog box appears prompting you to open the extracted text file. Click the “Yes” button to open it in notepad.
Here is a screenshot of the text file I extracted from the PDF file.
You may face some problems if the file is password protected or has some other limitation. You can try a tool called AnyBizSoft PDF Password Remover to remove password protection from PDF files.
