Like other instant messaging tools, Skype also has a history feature through which it stores all chats and call history and stores them locally on your PC. If you want to delete this history, it can be done. It’s not hard to do but the option can be hard to locate.
You can search all Skype conversations and call details by going to View->History. By default, Skype saves all your instant messages, SMS, calls, voicemails, and file transfers. And it’s accessible to anyone who can get hold of your PC.
You can delete previous chats and call details and disable the Skype history feature by changing the settings.
Go to Tools->Options.
On the left pane, click the “Privacy Settings” tab. Then, on the right, click the “Clear history” button.
A dialog box appears to confirm that you want to clear the history. It shows you that all recorded history will be deleted. Click the “Delete” button.
How to turn off the Skype history feature
Again, go to Tools->Options->Privacy Settings. In the “Keep history for” area, click the drop-down menu and select “no history.” That’s it, Skype won’t save any contact details on your computer.
Tip: Skype saves all conversations in the C:\Users\Username\AppData\Roaming\Skype folder on your computer. But don’t touch this folder to delete your communication records. It may affect other Skype settings. Deleting history from Skype interface is easier and recommended.
