How to Create and Use Communities in WhatsApp

Community is one of the biggest features WhatsApp has released in years. With personal chat threads and work messages, managing related groups in WhatsApp can be confusing. So Community brings all relevant groups under one umbrella. Here’s how you can set up and use communities in WhatsApp.

Communities are not intended to replace groups in WhatsApp. It depends on your existing teams and bringing together related groups under one roof. Before we show you how to create a WhatsApp community, let’s understand its use case.

What is WhatsApp community?

Community is a collection of related groups in WhatsApp. As an admin, you don’t need to manage different groups in WhatsApp. You can create a community and move all relevant groups to a single place. For example, an admin can create a community to bring all the groups together if you have multiple school groups for different subjects.

Let’s say you’re planning a charity event, throwing a potluck party, or a neighborhood Halloween night. In that case, the WhatsApp community makes it easier to communicate with group members on the go. WhatsApp Community is available on Android, iPhone and desktop. Check it out in action.

Step 5: You can create a new group for your community or choose from existing groups of which you are an admin. Choose more.

Step 6: Check out all the groups in the community and hit ‘Create’ in the top right corner.

That’s it. You have successfully created a community on WhatsApp. You can check all default message groups and groups in the Community tab.

You can add up to 50 groups and 5000 members to the community announcement group. Any community member can ask an admin to join another group. WhatsApp automatically creates a community message group for the community admin to send messages to all members.
