Google Now cards have proven to be useful to me on a personal level many times over, but there’s no denying that they can also make me feel weird at times. For example, getting a notification letting you know it’s time to head to the airport for your flight or watch a movie. It looks like Google is spying on your email, but hey, they already know a lot more about you anyway.
In early 2015, Google partnered with more partners to bring you relevant and useful information right to your Google Now screen, based on your search habits. These could also be in-app tags, but how do I keep track of all of this?
It’s all in Settings
Press and hold the Home key on your Android to access the Google Now card screen. By swiping from left to right you will be able to see Setting select. These are the main Google Search settings, so let’s dive into them.
While here, you can see a section dedicated to Now the card, clicking on it opens some other options. Here you will see the option to click Manage card history opens your entire current Tag history in the browser.
Clear history
In this browser window, you can view all of your Google Now Tag history, although not in full detail. If you want to clear the history of a specific date, tick the checkbox next to Today or any other day.
If you want to delete in bulk, tap the three-dot menu in the upper right corner and select Remove Options. Here you can choose the cards of today, of yesterday, or 4 weeks ago, or even from the beginning.
Be careful here: Deleting the Google Now Tag may affect future recommendations from Google Now, so be careful when deleting your history.
Wise day management
If there’s a specific date history you’d like to get rid of, tap the calendar icon right next to the three-dot menu. Once the entire calendar opens, you can select the date you want to view the Current Card history.
Please Note: You can only view Google Now Tag history here, it cannot be deleted.
Search works, but..
And right next to the calendar icon is the search bar. Yes, it works, but only in the way that the Google Now Tag is displayed here in this browser window. So if you search for ‘flights’ none of your tags will show up, but if you search for ‘travel’ instead you will get all the necessary Tag history from flights flight and other modes of transportation.
Other terms such as Weather works fine, but why would you still want to remove that information? In fact, looking up the weather on a particular day wherever you are in the world is a great advantage of Google Now Cards.
Convenience or a curse?
I know this can make you shudder at times, but Google Now Tags are incredibly useful. The steps above give you more control over your Current Card history, but there’s nothing else you can do. If you value your privacy more than anything, don’t sign up for this service.
