How to Connect Your Mobile to Your PC’s Internet on Windows 11

If you are using a smartphone, a feature that you may notice in the device settings is Data Tethering or Mobile Hotspot. With this feature, you can easily share your smartphone internet connection with any device including PC. Did you know that a similar feature also exists on your PC, which allows you to share your PC’s internet with your mobile phone?

With Windows 10 and the latest build of Windows 11, you can easily share your PC’s internet connection with your mobile phone. With this, your PC will become a temporary router. This is how you can connect your mobile phone to your PC’s internet.

How to connect mobile phone to PC using Wi-Fi

While mobile data can be good, a faster data connection will definitely help you download files quickly or have an edge when playing online multiplayer games. When you’re at a friend’s place or a friend stops by, instead of sharing your Wi-Fi password, you can turn your computer into a portable hotspot.

Windows 11 comes with the option to enable mobile hotspot on your PC. Here’s how it works:

Step 1: On your PC, click the Start menu at the bottom of the screen.

Step 2: Click the Gear icon to launch Windows Settings.

Step 3: Click on Network & Internet from the displayed options.

Step 4: Click Mobile Hotspot.

Step 5: Click the drop-down menu next to ‘Share my Internet connection from’ and then select the connection you want to share. Here we will choose Wi-Fi.

Note: Computers (laptops) without built-in LTE connectivity will have the only option of Wi-Fi.

Step 6: Click Edit in Properties to create a name and password for your hotspot.

Step 7: In Network Band, you can choose your connection speed. Options are 5GHz, 2.4GHz or Any Available. We recommend selecting Any Available to ensure your internet is not down due to the band.

Step 8: Go to the top of your screen and click on the portable hotspot to turn it on.

Note: The ‘Share my internet connection from’ option will be grayed out, which indicates that the hotspot is active.

Step 9: Turn on your mobile device’s Wi-Fi.

Note: When you activate the portable hotspot on a unplugged PC, Windows 11 will enable the PC’s power saving mode, thereby saving your battery.

Step 10: Scroll through the list of available connections to find your hotspot name.

Step 11: Click on the hotspot name.

Step 12: Provide your password and confirm your connection.

You can later connect your Android or iPhone to your PC’s Internet using the Wi-Fi option. Consider an alternative below.
