Mi Home Security Camera 360 is a great device for home users. It packs some cool features that make it one of the best Wi-Fi security cameras available in India. You can control it from the comfort of your phone. However, setting up the Mi Home Security Camera and connecting it to the app can be a pain for some people.
We have listed the steps required to set up Mi Home Security Camera 360.

Start.
Set up Mi Security Camera 360
Obviously you will need the Mi Home app to set up Mi Security Camera 360.
Step 1: Once you’ve downloaded the app, you’ll need to sign in to it using your Mi credentials. You can sign in with your number or email address.
Once done, you’ll see a small plus icon in the upper-right corner of the app’s home page. Click on it to add a device.
At this point, you can choose to add the device automatically or manually. Although the first method seems possible, the latter is more suitable for this camera.
Tap Camera and select your camera from the list.
Step 2: Next, you will be asked to reset the device. To do so, plug the camera into a power source. The camera will first calibrate itself by rotating horizontally and vertically. Once done, press and hold the Reset button on the base until you see the LED near the lens flashing Orange.
Once done, press the Next button and select the Wi-Fi network from the list. Now comes the difficult part.
The Mi Home app will provide you with a QR code that you need to scan with the small camera. It shouldn’t take much time. However, it is a time consuming job and it may take about 5-7 minutes for the camera to register the QR code and Later Scan it.
For faster results, adjust the brightness of the phone to the highest setting and hold the phone in front of the camera at a distance of about 15 cm.
Once the scan is registered, the Mi Home Camera LED will turn Blue. And so begins the camera setup process.

Step 3: After adding the device to the Wi-Fi network, the application will ask you to choose a room for the device. Enter a name or select one of the available names and press the Next button. That’s it. You have completed the setup process.
Now tap on the small circle icon to point the camera to the area of your choice. And whenever you want to record a particular clip, just press the Video button.
Alternatively, you can also select the recording on Mi Security Camera 360. By default, it will choose Auto and you can choose between HD and Low.
Additional settings of Mi Security Camera 360
1. Fine-tune camera settings
By default, the Mi Security camera has a bunch of settings, which is great for basic surveillance. But if you want to get the most out of this camera, you’ll have to dive into Settings (three-dot menu in the top right corner).
The first and most important setting that you should change is the Wide Dynamic Range mode. That feature enhances the quality of the video by balancing overexposed and underexposed areas.
These settings are available in Camera settings > Picture settings. Once in, flip the switch for Wide Dynamic Range mode.
2. Turn on Sleep Mode
Since the Mi Security camera is an indoor camera, you won’t want it to be on all the time, especially when you’re at home. At least I won’t.
In addition to motion alerts (which we’ll see soon), it can also eat up space on your SD card. Therefore, the best way is to put the camera to sleep mode.
To do so, tap the Shortcut icon in the lower right corner and tap the first one. Simple, see.
However, if you find it difficult to do it daily, you can also set a Sleep Schedule. For that, tap Camera Settings > Sleep Settings and tap Scheduled Sleep Time.
Enter the start time and end time according to your preference, and you’re done.
3. Modify Night Vision Settings
The Mi Security Camera also allows you to switch to colored footage even in low light. Go to Camera Settings > Night Sight Settings and toggle the switch to Full Color Mode with Low Light.
4. Set up motion alerts
Last but not least, let’s take a look at Motion Alert Settings, one of the most important. The camera will notify you via the app if it detects any movement and at the same time, it will start recording the footage.
Even if you haven’t inserted a microSD card (which you should), the clip will be encrypted and stored in the cloud for 7 days. This option is not enabled by default and you will have to enable it manually.
To do so, tap the Monitor icon in the bottom ribbon. Tap the Home Monitoring button at the bottom to activate the Home Monitoring Assistant.
The sensors of the Mi Home Security camera are quite good and it will also warn you even if the sensor is triggered by something as trivial as a mosquito (yes, it happened many times). Therefore, the best way is to reduce the sensitivity level a bit.
To do so, tap Alert sensitivity and select Low from the available settings. And while you’re at it, you can also modify the Alarm Duration.
