How to Automatically Change Your Android Wallpaper On a Schedule

Change wallpaper for Android

Buying a brand new smartphone is often exciting, and if I’m not mistaken, that excitement lasts for a number of days (or weeks). During this phase, people try out new apps, widgets, ringtones, and all sorts of other things to learn about the device and improve it.

Take Android as an example. Downloading and changing wallpapers is usually a popular activity that Android owners tend to pursue at first, but as time goes on and the excitement fades, people don’t care about wallpapers anymore and all images just lay dormant on the SD card. Changing the wallpaper manually every time seems like a chore.

What if your Android wallpaper could automatically change on a schedule? Sounds great, doesn’t it? So let’s see how you can change the wallpaper on your Android without breaking a sweat…. all quick and easy!

Configure the wallpaper source on the app

First, download and install Wallpaper Changer from the Play Store on your Android. Once the app is installed, launch it. Now, before using the application to change the wallpaper, we will have to provide some photos for it. I recommend you to create a separate folder on the SD card and dump all your wallpapers in there. You should always crop and scale your photos to your device’s native resolution, and that can be done using this batch photo resizer on your computer.

Having done that, select the option more photos if you are going to add each image to the application database and select Add folder if you have organized all wallpapers into a separate folder. You will be asked to open your device gallery where you need to select images or an entire folder. If you can’t crop the photo on your computer, you can choose Add cropped image option to crop and add individual images, but this process will take longer than before.

After loading the images into the app, you can view them by selecting Show all wallpapers option. You can add and remove photos to recycle old photos with some new ones.

Once all your wallpapers are ready, it’s time to configure the app. There are three ways that you can use the app to change the wallpaper. The first option is to set a predefined interval (in minutes) during which the wallpaper will be changed automatically and in the second option the wallpaper will change when unlocking the lock screen. Both of these options are available on the main screen of the application, you just need to check and select the option you want.

The third option by which you can change the wallpaper is to use a desktop widget. Just add the widget and configure the action. Then a small refresh style icon will be added to your desktop, click on it your wallpaper will change automatically.

Note: According to the developer, to optimize battery usage and device performance, it may take some time (several seconds) to change your wallpaper using the widget option.

You can also shuffle the wallpaper list and randomize the order of the wallpapers.

Conclusion

So go ahead and use the app to use all the wallpapers you think you will have on your SD card. Don’t forget to share with us any similar apps you come across on Play Store.
