Step 5: Click Account again and select Authorize.
Step 6: Click Authorize this computer.
Step 7: On the Authorize This Computer dialog box, provide your Password and click Authorize.
After successfully authorizing your computer, you will get a pop-up box indicating the number of authorized PCs.
The process to deauthorize your Windows PC from viewing your iTunes store purchases is quite similar to the licensing process. Here’s how to deauthorize your Windows PC:
Step 1: On your PC, click the Start menu and search for iTunes.
Step 2: Click Open to launch the iTunes app from the results.
Step 3: At the top of the iTunes window, click Accounts.
Step 4: Check if you are signed in to your Apple account. If you’re not signed in, click Sign In and provide your Apple ID and password.
Step 5: Click Account again and select Authorize.
Step 6: Click Deauthorize this computer.
Step 7: On the Deauthorize This Computer dialog box, provide your Password and click Deauthorize.
You will get a pop-up message indicating whether the deauthorization was successful or not.
Remember that iTunes only allows you to authorize five PCs to view your iTunes purchases. When you can’t remember the exact PCs you’ve licensed or have access to, there’s an alternative to deauthorize them from iTunes. However, there is a caveat when using this option: you can only use this feature once a year. Here’s how to access it:
Step 1: On your PC, click the Start menu and search for iTunes.
Step 2: Click Open to launch the iTunes app from the results.
Step 3: At the top of the iTunes window, click Accounts.
Step 4: Check if you are signed in to your Apple account. If your Account information doesn’t show up, click Sign In and provide your Apple ID and password.
Step 5: Click on Account again and select View My Account.
Step 6: On the Account Info Page, click Deauthorize All.
Step 7: Click Deauthorize All on the dialog box to confirm your action.
You will get a pop-up message stating that all PCs with previous access are no longer authorized. You can start the authorization process again using the steps explained earlier.
Update iTunes App on Windows
If you are unable to authorize or deauthorize your PC to view your iTunes purchases, it may be because your iTunes app is not up to date. There are several ways you can update the iTunes app directly through iTunes or Apple’s Software Updater to name a few. You can try uninstalling and reinstalling the iTunes app if it still doesn’t work.
