One of the coolest features Samsung introduced with the Galaxy S7 is the Always-On display that doesn’t drain the battery. This feature uses the device’s AMOLED display panel to maintain a black background and display the clock, calendar, and battery percentage when the phone is in sleep/standby mode. The good thing about this feature is that Samsung has really put a lot of effort into minimizing battery drain.
We’ve seen an app using this in the past that was able to emulate the Always On display on other Android devices with AMOLED, however, the app is not a true Always On. After about 1 minute, the screen normally goes to sleep to save battery and only achieves true Always On state while charging. However, a brand new app called Always On AMOLED brings to mind the authentic Samsung Always On display. So let’s see how the app works.

Make Samsung always on display
To get started, download and install an app called Always On AMOLED on your Android device. After the first launch, the application will ask you to grant various permissions for smooth operation. All you need to do is click Allow now then enable specific settings on next page and once done go back to app to grant other permissions.
Once you have allowed all the necessary permissions, the application settings will open. Here, enable the first two options to enable the Always On AMOLED service and make sure that the service remains in memory by using the screen continuously. Once that’s done, just lock your device and see the app in action. A few seconds after the screen turns off, the standby timer becomes active. The clock will change position randomly every few minutes to avoid screen burn.

Furthermore in the app settings you can enable battery percentage and notifications to extend the functionality. You also have the option Double tap to remove, Swipe up to removeor Volume key to remove, but enabling these options will again drain the device’s battery more. You can also control the screen’s brightness in the interface.
Another great thing about the app is that the fingerprint lock works perfectly and you don’t have to manually wake the device to unlock with the fingerprint sensor. If you have a dock on your desk, you can enable the option to show the clock only after the phone is put in charge mode via the Auto Rule section.
If the text doesn’t fit the screen, you can set the font size in the interface settings along with the color and brightness of the text. If you like the app and the developer’s efforts, you can make an in-app purchase to support him.

The app is still in beta, and as new builds are released we may see an improvement in battery usage and watch faces.
