Enable, Disable and Clear Auto-Complete in Outlook 2013

Auto-Complete is one of the most useful features in Outlook 2013 and its predecessors, as it makes life so much easier when you have to type a lot of emails every day.

What if you were forced to search for contacts in your Outlook 2013 address book every time you wanted to email them, then manually add them? Or even worse, if you had to type each address yourself? It sounds like something from a bygone era, and it is, thanks to the Autocomplete feature.

Autocomplete

This is the feature where after you have emailed a contact once, his email address will show up after you enter the first letter.

Enable and Disable Autocomplete in Outlook 2013

This feature still works fine in Outlook 2013, but in case it got disabled for some reason during your software installation, know that activating it is super easy. Just like disabling it (why would you want to do that, I don’t know), this is done from the same place.

You’ll also learn how to momentarily remove an address from the Autocomplete list, in case you need to start over.

Step 1: Press Document in the top menu.

Step 2: In the menu on the left side of your Outlook 2013, click Option.

Step 3: A new window will pop up; This is where all the action will happen. In the menu on the left, find Letters and click it.

Step 4: Microsoft has filled this menu with lots of features and options (the search feature, like the one in the Google Chrome Settings menu, would be a pretty good idea). Scroll down until you find the section named Send Message. It will be in the middle of the menu I mentioned earlier.

Step 5: If you want Outlook 2013 to give you contact suggestions to send your message, make sure the option I have marked below, namely Use the AutoComplete List to suggest names when entering the To, Cc, and Bcc lines, marked.

If you don’t want Auto-Complete to work, uncheck this option. If you’re working in a company where privacy is very important, or if you use your work email to send personal emails and you don’t want others to stumble upon it, I recommend you don’t. should choose it.

Step 6: However, what do you do if you need the Autocomplete option but want to start over? More precisely, you want to use the option from now on, but you don’t want to see the addresses you entered until now.

The answer to your problem is Outlook 2013’s ability to clear the Autocomplete list. It is found in the same section, next to the option you just activated (or deactivated, depending on what you want to achieve).

ONE The autocomplete list is empty button is available. Clicking on it will solve the problem.

bottom line

Auto-Complete is one of the most useful features of Microsoft Outlook, especially in a business environment, so using it might be a good idea.
