Ash Gardner height-Australian cricketer, Ashleigh Katherine Gardner was born on April 15, 1997.
Gardner was born in the Sydney suburb of Kogarah in Australia to Kate Gardner and Jim Gardner. She shares the same parents with her older brother, Aaron Gardner.
She attended Picnic Point High School. Gardner, a right-handed batter and right-arm off-spinner, also competes for Gujarat Giants in the Women’s Premier League (WPL), Sydney Sixers in the Women’s Big Bash League, and New South Wales in the Women’s National Cricket League (WNCL).
With her separate teams, she has won three global championships and four national championships. She has also received many solo accolades, including the Belinda Clark Award.
Ash Gardner career
Gardner made her WNCL debut for New South Wales in the 2015–16 season after outstanding performances throughout the 2014–15 Imparja Cup. She then joined the Sydney Sixers for the first WBBL season.
She represented Northern Districts (not to be confused with one of her local NSW Premier Cricket sides, Northern District Cricket Club) in a T20 and a 50-over match in New Zealand that same summer.
In addition to winning championships with the Sixers and New South Wales, Gardner had a breakout season in 2016–17, earning the title of WBBL|02’s Young Gun.
She was reportedly removed from the field due to heat fatigue as a precaution following a head knock at practice two days prior, which prevented her from competing in the WBBL final.
For the 2017–18 WNCL season, Gardner relocated to South Australia. She played six games for her new side before going back to her home state of New South Wales.
With an inning of 114 off 52 balls against the Melbourne Stars at North Sydney Oval, she made the league’s fastest half-century and highest individual score to start the WBBL|03 in an impressive manner.
Gardner contributed 22 runs in the Sixers’ back-to-back championship victories against the Perth Scorchers in the Adelaide Oval championship match.
She was cleared to participate in the 2018–19 WNCL championship game after being forced to leave the previous game owing to a mild concussion she sustained during warm-ups. In the 33–run victory over Queensland, she managed 30 not out with the bat and 2/36 with the ball.
Gardner suffered her seventh concussion episode during a WBBL|06 match at Drummoyne Oval while fielding the ball, and she was taken off the field and replaced.
The following three games of the season were missed as a result. Gardner had a successful comeback in the WBBL|08 after a lackluster 2021–22 season, winning Player of the Tournament for the first time in the award’s history.
She was purchased by Gujarat Giants in February 2023 at the first WPL auction at 3.2 crores.
During the multi-format series against India in 2020–21, Gardner hit her first Test half-century at Carrara Stadium, scoring 51 runs in a tie match.
She scored another half-century at Manuka Oval the following summer in the lone Women’s Ashes Test, which likewise ended in a draw.
Gardner had a strong inning of 48 not out from 18 balls and 3/15 in a group stage match of the 2022 Women’s Cricket World Cup against New Zealand at the Basin Reserve, helping her team to a 141-run victory.
With a score of 52 not out off 35 balls against India to start the T20I competition at the 2022 Commonwealth Games off strong, Gardner enabled Australia to rally from 5/49 to successfully chase down a target of 155 with three wickets remaining and an over to spare.
