On Monday, March 7, at the 2022 Academy of Country Music Awards, Kelly Clarkson once again demonstrated why she is the queen of covers with a lovely tribute to Dolly Patron.
The 1973 hit “I Will Always Love You” by Dolly Parton, which Whitney Houston later covered for the 1992 movie The Bodyguard, was covered by the American Idol alum during the ceremony.
The Kelly Clarkson Show presenter sang the song to a rapturous applause from both celebs and fans, who were accompanied by an acoustic guitar and piano.
The performance particularly affected Parton, who onstage hugged Clarkson to show how much love the two country music legends have for one another.
The 9 to 5 performers staged the show along with country artists Jimmie Allen and Gabby Barrett.
Although this tribute to Parton was beautiful, it wasn’t unexpected considering Clarkson’s revelation on her programme a month earlier that a special performance for the 2022 ACM Awards had been in the pipeline.
