Access Google Services, Chrome Apps in Chrome Toolbar

App Launcher

If you are an avid user of Google services, you probably know about the Google bar. It’s the common toolbar at the top of Google services like Gmail and Calendar that contains options and notifications. Also, it comes with Google services launcher. An icon looks like a grid of icons.

You may also be familiar with the Chrome App. Chrome-based applications are sometimes like a website but run in their own windows. However, some of them are quite useful, and we have highlighted the best Chrome Apps here.

For accessing things like Google Drive or Maps, these features are extremely useful. What if you had access to both whenever you wanted? What if both of these menus appeared in Chrome’s toolbar, right where all the extensions were?

Google Product Switcher in Extension Bar

First, bring the product switcher to the toolbar. You can download the extension from here. Clicking on the extension icon brings up the traditional product switcher, right off the web.

App Launcher Copy Png

It looks like it’s really just a web component wrapped in a dropdown, even though it takes quite a while to load at first. Or it could just be my slow internet.

Anyway, here you will see shortcuts for Google services like Gmail, Drive, YouTube, News, Play Store, etc.

Chrome Apps in the Extension Bar

But what if you want to launch apps for things like Keep, Wunderlist, or Google Docs without going to a new tab page? Try the App Launcher extension. It will list all installed Chrome apps in a long list.

And unlike the extension above, it’s fast and customizable. Right click on the expand button and select Option. Here you will only have one option. You can switch from the current view to a smaller, unlabelled view. If you have a lot of apps, this means you’ll have to scroll less.

Bonus: Switch to the old new tab page

New Tab Reload Png

A few months ago, Google became popular and, in the name of their new design standard, removed a lot of useful functionality from the new tab page. Now it’s just a big search bar with your most visited pages.

If you missed it (me too), you can try bringing it back using the New Tab Reloaded extension. What makes this extension really useful is that it allows you to activate recentlylost tabs And other equipment features from options.

And of course, it’s also helpful to show all Chrome Apps when you open a new tab.
