4 Ways to Fix OnePlus One’s Battery Draining Problems

When I bought the OnePlus One, I was looking for a monster, not just performance. All reviews report excellent battery life (3100 mAh!). A friend of mine consistently gets 7-8 hours of device usage per charge. And it easily exceeded 1 day for him.

So I was surprised when my OPO died right after hitting 3 hours on screen on time. There is something wrong. And yes, I have updated to the latest CM 11S.

If you’ve also had serious battery problems, or if you think your OPO isn’t going to last as long as it should, read on to find out how I fixed OPO battery drain issues and how you can fix it too. dress.

More on battery life: We previously wrote about 9 ways to preserve battery life on Android. You can also use auto-connect apps to save battery.

1. Are Google Play Services the culprit?

When I went to Setting -> Battery, the cause of the battery drain is clear. It’s Google Play Services. It is waking up the phone unnecessarily, running in the background and causing havoc.

Luckily, the OnePlus One running Cyanogen OS 11S comes with the tools to deal with this problem. Go Setting -> Privacy -> Personal protection. Tap the three-dot menu and enable the option to list built-in apps.

Now press and hold Google Play Services. Go Wake up, stay awake, Auto start and choose Refuse for every.

For me, the rogue app was Google Play Services. But for you, it could be something else. But the solution to deal with it will be the same.

2. For longer battery life, do the usual dance

first

If you don’t know the do’s and don’ts of a new Android phone when it comes to increasing battery life, check out the suggestions below.

  • Keep the brightness nice and low. If Auto Brightness doesn’t work for you, control it manually. OPO has a setting to control brightness by sliding your finger on the status bar. Activate it from Setting -> Status bar.
  • Disable data and Bluetooth when not needed.
  • Turn off location services (GPS) completely. GPS always runs in the background by default. Turn it off for better battery life.
  • go Personal protection and control phishing apps like Facebook. Like we did in the step above, deny wake permission, stay awake and auto-start.

3. Handling charging problems

2

If your OPO isn’t charging properly or you think it’s slower than usual, see the following potential solutions.

  • Make sure you are using the USB cable that came with the OPO. But to check if it’s the charger’s fault, try charging it with another USB cable you have.
  • Connect it to your PC and see if it’s charging.
  • Hold down the power and volume down buttons to boot into recovery then try charging that way.
  • If it is still not resolved, you may be looking for an alternative.

4. Battery Repair and Overheating Charger

4

If your OnePlus One’s battery overheats while charging or your charger itself shows signs of heating up, try the following.

  • You should charge your phone when it’s about 30-40% left. The lower the battery percentage, the hotter the device/charger will be.
  • Make sure you are using the correct charger and that everything is properly connected.
  • If the phone won’t boot at all, leave it on for a few hours then hold the power button for more than 20 seconds. This will perform a soft reset. You can do this several times.
  • If you’re still having issues, it might be time to return the phone.

How’s your battery life?

After I took charge of the battery life, it definitely improved. But I’m nowhere near the coveted 7-9 hour display on time. Maybe I can achieve that with a custom ROM and a different kernel. Maybe.

In the meantime, let me know what kind of battery you’re using on your OnePlus One in the comments section below.
