Stickers are a key component of Instagram Stories that take them to the next level. Sure, filters are helpful, too, but Stickers add the missing spice to Stories. Not only are the Stickers clickable, such as Mentions, Locations, and Hashtags, but also interactive like Polls and Emojis Slider Stickers.
Just a few days ago, Instagram added Interactive Question Stickers to its amazing Stickers collection. Now they have launched another cool thing – Countdown Stickers.
In this post, we will tell you how to use this Sticker and all that you can do with it.

1. What is a countdown sticker
Let’s say there’s a party at your home/school/college and you go to Instagram to announce it. Before that, you just need to post that the party will take place on a specific date, time, and place.
But now you can create countdown timer with the help of Countdown Sticker. It’s basically an alarm clock for the next event, product launch, party, and the like that will remind viewers of the upcoming event if they choose to follow it.
2. How to use Countdown Stickers
Instagram stickers are extremely easy to use. Similar to other Stickers, open the Sticker tray in your Story and select the Sticker you want to use. In this case, select Countdown Sticker.
If this is your first time using this Sticker, you will get a Countdown Sticker that you need to customize (more on that below). However, if you already have a countdown running, tap the Create Countdown button.
3. Name the countdown
When you add a Countdown Sticker, the first thing you need to do is give it a name. You cannot leave it blank. The name should describe the countdown. If you want more details about the Countdown, you can use the Story text feature to add text.
4. Add countdown end date
Next, you need to add the most important part of any countdown, and that is the end date. To do that, tap the digits in the Countdown Label and select an end date from the calendar at the bottom.
5. Add countdown end time
Now, if you don’t want the countdown to run all day but want the countdown to complete at a specific time, you can do that too. For that, tap the All Day toggle at the bottom of the calendar to turn it off. Once you do that, you will have the option to set the countdown time. Finally, set the time and tap the Done button at the top.
6. Change countdown color
Don’t like the default background color of the newly added Stickers? You can change it. To do so, press repeatedly on the palette icon at the top to cycle between the available color choices. Currently, you cannot choose the background color manually. You need to choose one from the available options.
7. See the old countdown
While you can only add one Countdown Sticker per Story, you can create multiple countdowns and add it to different Stories. They will all run concurrently.
In case you were wondering what happens to the countdown for a later date since the Story only lasts for 24 hours, the countdown will continue to run. Even though the Story disappears like any other Story, the countdown stays on.
To see your old countdown, go to the Stories screen and take a photo or select any old photo. Then click on the Sticker icon to add a Sticker. Here, select Countdown Stickers. You will see all your countdowns here. The list will include those that are currently running and those that have ended.
8. Clear the countdown
To delete the Countdown that you created, first follow the steps mentioned above to see the Countdown. Once in the Countdown screen, tap the three-dot icon on the Countdown that you want to remove. Choose Delete from the pop-up menu.
9. Re-add existing countdown timer
Since the Countdown stays on your profile, you can always add them back to your Story. Basically, if you want to remind your viewers about the end of the Countdown, it would be helpful to reuse the Countdown Stickers.
To reuse the Countdown Sticker, first follow the steps to see the Countdown. Then tap on the Countdown Sticker that you want to reuse. It will be added to your Story.
Note:
10. Set a countdown reminder
As a viewer, if you need a reminder about the end of the Countdown, Instagram has your back. Let’s say a brand just ran a two-day sale and they used a Countdown Sticker and timed it. You don’t need to use any third party apps to create reminders as you can use the built-in functionality of this Sticker.
To set a reminder for the Countdown Sticker, tap Stickers in Stories. You will get two options at the bottom – Remind Me and Share Countdown. Tap Remind me to set a reminder.
Note
If you like someone’s Countdown, you can share it on your Story. It will be quite helpful for brands as Instagram influencers can share the Brand Countdown on their profile now.
To share the Countdown, tap the Countdown Sticker and select Share Countdown from the options. You will be taken to your Story screen. Here, select the wallpaper and publish it.
Note:
12. See who set a reminder for your countdown
As mentioned above, creators will be notified whenever someone sets a reminder for the Countdown. Now as a creator, if you want to see who set the reminder, you need to open the Instagram notification screen. Here you will see the configurations that have set the reminder.
Currently, there are no dedicated screens or an appropriate amount for the number of reminders set.
13. No countdown stickers
Countdown Sticker is available on both Android and iPhone. It also works on both personal and business profiles. If your account doesn’t have Countdown Stickers, we recommend updating the app. In case the Sticker is still not showing, it may not be available in your region yet. Guess you need to wait a little longer.
Start the countdown
On a personal profile, it would be interesting to create a timer for upcoming daily life events. Students can use it for exams, results and the like. Christmas and New Year’s Eve are approaching. You can also use it for them.
Brands can make the best use of Countdown Stickers for product launches, offers, webinars, etc. So what are you waiting for? Let the fun begin!
