How to Fix “Waiting on another update” on Battle.net

Are you getting “Waiting for another update” error on Battlenet?

The error message occurs when a new update is available for the Battle.net game.

It happens when you are trying to update games like Overwatch 2, Hearthstone, Diablo, etc.

I had this problem myself and it took a few hours before I found a fix.

Before that, I tried deleting Battle.net, reinstalling it, and connecting to a VPN to no avail.

In this guide, you’ll learn how to fix the “Waiting for another update” error on Blizzard’s Battle.net launcher.

How to fix “Waiting for another update” error on Battle.net

To fix the “Waiting for another update” error on Battle.net, you need to change your region (for example, from Asia to America).

You can also try disabling “Limit Download Bandwidth”, resetting your network, or disabling all non-Microsoft services.

Fix 1: Change your region

  1. Open Battle.net and select the game that cannot be updated (e.g. Overwatch 2).
  2. Click the globe icon.
  3. Switch to a different region (for example, from Asia to the Americas).
  4. Pause the update and start it again.
  5. Update the game again.

Tip: If the game still won’t update, keep changing the region, pause and start the update until it starts.

As soon as I switched to another region, the Battle.net game went from 0% to 100% in less than a minute.

Once the game is updated, you can return to your original region.

Fix 2: Restart the Battle.net desktop app

  1. Press CTRL + ALT + DEL and select Task Manager.
  2. Select “Battle.net” and click “End Mission”.
  3. Select “Battle.net Update Agent” and click “End Task”.
  4. End the quest for any running Battle.net game.
  5. Open the Battle.net desktop app again and try updating the game again.

Fix 3: Disable “Download Bandwidth Limit”

  1. Open Battle.net and click on the Battle.net icon.
  2. Select “Settings” from the drop-down menu.
  3. Select “Download” and turn off “Download Bandwidth Limit”.
  4. Click “Done” and update the game.

Editor’s Note: Disabling the “Limit Download Bandwidth” setting will dramatically increase your download speed.

Fix 4: Reset your network

  1. Use Windows Search and search for “Command Prompt”.
  2. Right click and run Command Prompt as administrator.
  3. Type “netsh int ip reset c:\resetlog.txt” and press Enter.
  4. Type “netsh winock reset” and press Enter.
  5. Type “ipconfig /flushdns” and press Enter.
  6. Restart your PC, open Battle.net and update the game.

Fix 5: Disable all non-Microsoft services

  1. Using Windows Search, search for “msconfig” and open it.
  2. Click the “Services” tab.
  3. Select “Hide all Microsoft services”.
  4. Disable all > Apply > OK.
  5. Restart your PC, open Battle.net and update the game.
