What is the average K/D ratio in Modern Warfare 3?

The K/D or kill/death ratio has long been seen as a mark of your true quality in the Call of Duty games, and that’s still the case with Modern Warfare 3 in 2024.

It’s a number that represents how many kills you get for each death in the game, but what’s considered good, and what’s the average for the playerbase?

We don’t have any official information on the average K/D ratio from Activision when it comes to Modern Warfare 3. However, a bell curve graph was published by True Game Data based on data from Warzone 1 and Modern Warfare 2019.

This showed the average among the player base to be 0.8, and it’s likely that this is still the case for MW3, though it could have moved up or down a few points. My best estimate would put the average between 0.7 and 0.9 based on this data.

This data set also gave us an insight into the percentage of the player base with a K/D ratio above one. For example, a 1.2 K/D puts you in the top 30% of the player base, and 1.5 puts you in the top 10%.

Anything higher than that, especially above two, is highly rare and reserved for the best of the best and people who haven’t been caught cheating yet.

This should give you some insight as to where you lie in comparison with the rest of the player base.

Do remember that this only gives you information on kills and deaths though, as you can still be a good team player even with a lower K/D. For example, playing the objective in modes like Domination, CTF, or Hard Point will do more overall for your team than just getting kills.

Also remember to have fun, pursuing a high K/D is almost Sisyphean.
