Imagine this, you were looking for some recipe over the weekend and forgot to bookmark it. And now you are trying to find the same site. You’re going through your Chrome history just to see how chaotic it is. Isn’t it a waste of time and anger? Meanwhile, if you use a feature called Journeys in Chrome, which came out a while ago, this won’t happen.
Google Chrome launched Journeys in 2022 to address this turmoil. However, many Chrome users don’t know what Journeys is. And if you’re constantly learning about your history, let’s find out what Journeys is and how to use it effectively to save time.
What is a Journey in Chrome History
To save you from scrolling through endless history, Journeys is a well-organized and themed version of your past discoveries or browsing history. Journeys help you quickly resume your previous search sessions and access web pages from the previous session right where you left off.
Chrome History vs Journey
Technically, History and Journey are both a type of web history. A significant difference between the two features is Journey’s ability to combine related searches and sites together for greater convenience. On the other hand, History in Chrome is a more traditional way to view your Chrome search history.
How to turn it on and find itineraries
By default, journeys are enabled for all Chrome for web browsers, whether you’re using a Mac, PC, or even Linux. However, if you can’t find this in your Chrome browser, we recommend updating your Chrome browser. And once the update is done, follow these simple steps:
Step 1: Open Google Chrome on your PC or Mac.
Step 2: Click on the three dots icon (kebab menu) in the top right corner and go to History > History.
Step 3: Now click Enable Cruises to enable Google Chrome cruises.
When the Journeys feature is enabled, you can find it on the history page right next to the history list view.
How to use Chrome Journey
If used correctly, Chrome’s Journey will grow with you because it’s less cluttered and neatly divided into sections. Using Journeys on the web is an easy process; Consider these simple steps to follow:
Step 1: Open Google Chrome on your PC or Mac.
Step 2: Click on the three dots icon (kebab menu) in the top right corner and go to History > History.
Step 3: Access Chrome history from the sidebar and click the three dots icon (kebab menu) next to the Journey you want to review.
Tip: You can also tap an item in an Itinerary to open it in a new tab.
Step 4: Click ‘Open all in new tab group’ to open all tabs in a new group and quickly resume your previous session.
Tip: Click ‘Clear all from history’ to remove all Journey items from history.
Step 5: You can also try clicking the helpful suggestions inside Journeys to continue relevant Google searches right from Journeys.
Step 6: If you want to delete an entry in the Journey, hover your mouse to the right side of said history and click on the kebab menu.
Step 7: Click Remove from history and the item will be removed from the Journey.
Continue your journey in Chrome
In addition to this method, you can also resume your Journey from the Chrome address bar itself. This is the way:
Step 1: Launch Chrome browser and start typing queries related to your previous session.
Step 2: From the suggestions, click the option with Resume your Journey.
Step 3: The Journey will open in Chrome’s sidebar; Click on any item to open it in a new tab.
Step 4: If you want to open all tabs from a Journey, click the three dots.
Step 5: Select ‘Open all in new tab group’.
Step 6: All tabs from Journey will open in a new tab group. Now you can resume previous session easily.

How to turn off Journeys in Chrome
New features can be good for some and overwhelming for others. However, if you don’t find Journey useful in traditional history and want to say goodbye, consider turning it off. Here are the simple steps to do so:
Step 1: In Chrome, click the kebab menu and go to History > History.
Step 2: Click Turn Off Journeys in the sidebar and the Journeys tab will disappear.
1. What happens to the Journey if I delete my history or vice versa?
If you delete the History in your Chrome browser, the relevant Journey will also be deleted and vice versa.
2. Can I delete multiple journeys at once?
Are not. To do so, select and delete the relevant entries in Chrome History.
Take charge of your history
Dive into your Chrome History looking for something like a needle in a haystack. On the other hand, Journeys will help you convert large haystacks into many smaller haystacks, making it easier for you to find what you’re looking for. Try the Journey for yourself; you can use it more than History itself.
