Discord offers many features to ensure the user gets the best experience. One such commonly used feature is the ability to share files. However, if you are not subscribed to Discord Nitro, you can only send or upload files up to 25MB. But what if we tell you there’s a way to get around the Discord file size limit?
And it’s not subscribing to Nitro! Besides, even if you choose the Nirtro plan, you can only share larger files of up to 500MB. This can be a bummer since Discord is a great place to communicate with friends or groups.
However, with the tried-and-tested workarounds mentioned in this guide, you can send or upload large files on Discord without issues. Let’s begin.
Imgur is an online platform where users can share content such as images, GIFs, memes, videos, and reviews. With this tool, you can send videos over 100MB or 500MB files on Discord without Nitro. Here’s how it’s done:
Step 1: Open Imgur and Sign in to or Sign up for your account.
Step 2: Click New post.
Step 3: Click ‘Choose Photo/Video’ and upload the video you want to compress for Discord.
Step 4: While uploading the video, you can choose whether to keep the audio.
Step 5: Choose Grab Link.
Step 6: Select Copy Link.
Step 6: Now, share the link wherever you want on Discord.
From here, the other members can view the video without opening the link. Moreover, if you need to access the files again, you can go to your profile in Imgur and choose Posts. From here, choose the post to share and then follow the abovementioned steps to share the video.

2. Bypass Discord File Size Limit by Compressing the Files
The best way to reduce file size on Discord is by compressing the file. You can use any popular file compressor to do this.
On Windows
For this guide, we are using the default file compressing feature in Windows. If you don’t see the option, you can use WinRAR.
Step 1: Right-click over the file or folder you want to compress.
Step 2: Choose ‘Compress to ZIP file.’

On Mobile
Smartphones also offer the default option to compress files. The steps are similar for both iOS and Android. So, follow along.
Step 1: Open File Manage and locate the file you want to compress.
Step 2: Press and hold the file you want to compress.
Note: On iPhone, you will see the Compress option in the list. Tap on it.
Step 3: On Android, tap the three dots at the bottom right corner and choose Compress.

3. Online File Sharing Websites and Compression Tools
Apart from using an app or the built-in compressing feature of your devices, you can also use online file compressors to reduce file size for Discord. The tools can compress multiple file types easily. While there are many tools on the internet, we are using Compress2Go.
Step 1: Visit the Compress2Go website using the below link.
Step 2: Choose the file type you want to compress.
Step 3: Click Choose File.
Step 4: Choose the file type you want to convert to and click Start.
Step 5: Wait until the file is compressed and hit Download to get the compressed file on your device.
Once downloaded, you can send the file to Discord. If needed, you can also choose Cloud Upload and share the file where you want to.
4. Use Cloud Storage
You can also use popular cloud storage services such as Google Drive, One Drive, and others to share the files to Discord. Most cloud storage services offer free storage, which can be adequate for most. By using Cloud services, you can share any file with Discord.
Here’s how it’s done using Google Drive. The process is more or less similar for other cloud storage services.
Step 1: Open Google Drive and login to your account.
Step 2: Click New.
Step 3: Choose File upload.
Step 4: Once the file is uploaded, tap the three dots next to the file you want to share.
Step 5: Choose Share and click Share.
Step 6: Under General, choose ‘Anyone with the link’ from the drop-down menu.
Step 7: Click Copy Link and share the link in Discord.
Tip: You can also grant permission to view this file to specific users.
However, the users can’t preview the post within Discord like they can using the Imgur method. They need to click the link to see the file.
5. Subscribe to Discord Nitro
If you are not interested in trying these detours in getting over Discord File Size Limits, you can subscribe to Discord Nitro. With Nitro, you can send files of up to 500MB. You can access the Nitro subscription by the following steps:
On PC
Step 1: Open Discord and click the Settings icon at the bottom next to the username.
Step 2: Choose Nitro, and from here, choose the plan of your choice.
Tip: Depending on your requirements, you can choose Discord Nitro Basic, allowing file uploads of up to 50MB, or Discord Nitro, allowing files of up to 500MB.
On Smartphone
Step 1: Open Discord and tap the profile button at the bottom right corner.
Step 2: Tap Get Nitro and choose the plan of your choice.
Send Files Without Any Limits
