No one can remember everything and that’s why we take notes. Taking notes is not difficult, but organizing and writing it as needed takes skill. I used to use sticky notes on my computer and notes stored on my Android to keep track of things, but believe me, it was a daunting task.
If you also think you are stuck with the conventional way and want to make your notes worth reading, then I think Evernote is the best solution.
What is Evernote?
Evernote is a great web service to manage all your important notes as text, web pages, photos or even voice notes. These notes are stored on a web server and can therefore be accessed from anywhere as long as you have an active internet connection. Furthermore, Evernote has designed mobile apps for most of the high-end smartphones, thus helping you wherever you go.
Evernote not only remembers your notes, but also helps you access them easily by organizing them. You can search for notes by keyword, title, and tag. Plus, Evernote makes the printed and handwritten text inside your images magically searchable (which is pretty cool in my opinion).
If you don’t have an Evernote account, you can create one for free and enjoy its superior features right there.
Clip to Evernote’s Chrome extension
Most of us use bookmarking or Read Later services to save web pages online for future reference. The biggest downside to this is that all data is stored locally and there is no safe method to recover them if your computer crashes. Also, organizing bookmarks is a tedious task, and creating them for later reference can be frustrating.
Using the Clip to Evernote Chrome extension, you can save web pages or sections of web pages as text, links, or images, all with a single click. Plus, you can search in your Evernote archive whenever you search on Google, Bing, or Yahoo.
How to install the extension
If you’re using Google Chrome, go to the Clip to Evernote page and click the Install button. The extension will automatically download and install. After successful installation, you will see a green elephant icon next to your address bar. It’s your Evernote extension!
Save your first clip
Step 1: Once you have installed the extension, click on it and sign in to your Evernote account by providing your credentials.
Step 2: Once you’re in, click the clip article button and select the web article you want to crop and save.
Step 3: Your article will be cropped and saved automatically on Evernote server. You can now add comments and tags to your notes for future reference.
Voila, now you can access the website as a note anywhere without fear of losing it. There are also Clip Full Page and Clip URL options that you can use as needed.
My judgment
Honestly, I fell in love with this service and the extension when I first got my hands on them. This is an excellent service and a solid alternative to similar services Read Later.
