Canva is one of the best graphic design tools out there. With built-in templates, you can create eye-catching flyers, newsletters, brochures, professional resumes, etc. You can even print your favorite designs for multiple purposes. Here are the best ways to print from Canva for free.
Sometimes, a digital version of your Canva design isn’t enough. To use it in a store, office or for business purposes, you need to print it out and distribute it to others. Whether you use the web version or the mobile app, it’s pretty easy to print your Canva designs at home or in the office without paying a dime.
What is Print Canva?
Before we show you the free methods, let’s talk about the company’s Canva Print service. If you don’t have a high-quality color printer at home or office, use the Canva Print service for a few dollars and get professional printed designs delivered to your door.
Canva lets you choose from over 50,000 templates to decorate your final design. You can choose front and back design, size, paper type, paper material, number of copies, check price and complete other details to get your favorite design at home.
However, the Canva Print service comes with a major drawback. Depending on your location, it can take up to a week to receive your printed design at home or in the office. If you’re opening a new coffee shop, having a sale coming up in the coming days, or hosting a birthday party over the weekend, you may not receive your design in time. It’s best to print a page from Canva using a leading wireless printer.
Free printing from Canva on desktop
We’ll start with the web version of Canva and move on to the mobile app to print your design.
Step 1: Visit the Canva website in a browser and log in with your account information.
Step 2: Create a new design or open an existing design. Make the necessary changes using the feature-rich Canva editor.
Step 3: Click File at the top and expand View Settings. Turn on Show Print Bleeding. This option allows you to avoid unnecessary white borders when printing to the edge of the paper.
Step 4: You can also enable margins to ensure that essential design elements are not cut off when printing.
Step 5: Select Notes at the bottom and enter the note that you want to separate from the final PDF.
Step 6: Click the Share icon at the top and press Download.
Step 7: Change the file type to PDF, ideal for printing. You may notice three options.
- Trimming and bleeding: You can add crop marks when you download your design to mark where the paper was cut.
- Flatten PDF: Option to convert your design with multiple layers into one. It ensures that all your Canva design elements will be printed.
- Include notes: You can add notes (as illustrated in the fifth step) to your designs and download them as PDFs.
Step 8: Select a relevant color profile. Canva recommends using RGB for digital and CMYK for professional printing.
The latter is locked in the Canva Pro package. It starts at $12.99 per month. Select Download.
After you download your Canva design, print it to your printer using the steps below.
Step 1: Open the File Explorer or Finder menu on the desktop and launch the PDF in your preferred editor.
Step 2: Press the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + P (Windows) or Command + P (on Mac) and open the Print menu.
Step 3: Select your printer, set the layout, choose color printing and click Print.

Print from Canva for free on mobile devices
Canva uses the same interface on Android and iPhone. We will be using Canva for iPhone in the screenshot below. You can use the same on Android to print your designs.
Step 1: Download and launch Canva on iPhone. Sign in with your account details.
Step 2: Select your current design and make edits. Tap the Share icon at the top.
Step 3: Select Download.
Step 4: Save the design as PDF, enable PDF flattening, include notes if you want, and hit Download.
Step 5: Canva creates a PDF file on your phone and opens the share sheet. Tap Print, select your printer, enable the Print Color toggle, fine-tune the media quality, and select Print in the top-right corner.
