His most well-known performance was as Corporal Louis LeBeau in the sitcom Hogan’s Heroes (1965 to 1971). In addition, he made appearances on The Bold and the Beautiful and Days of Our Lives.

Of his 14 siblings, ten perished in the Holocaust. He was the oldest. He studied art in Paris and started singing professionally at the age of twelve on a French radio station.

Following the cancellation of the show, he appeared in a number of feature films with World War II themes, including the made-for-TV film Remembrance of Love, which was about the Holocaust. Clary also appeared on Days of Our Lives, The Young and the Restless, and The Bold and the Beautiful, among others.

Clary made an appearance in the 1975 film The Hindenburg, which depicted a fictitious plot to blow up the German airship after it arrived at Lakehurst Naval Air Station. He portrayed Joseph Späh, a real-life passenger on the last flight of the airship.
