Pete Edward Rose is a former professional baseball player and manager. He was born on April 14th, 1941 in Cincinnati, Ohio in the United States of America.
From 1963 through 1986, Rose participated in Major League Baseball (MLB), most notably as a member of the Cincinnati Reds squad known as the Big Red Machine for sweeping the National League in the 1970s.
He also participated in baseball for the Montreal Expos and Philadelphia Phillies. He managed the Reds from 1984 to 1989, both during and after his playing career.
When Rose was accused of betting on baseball games while managing and playing for the Reds in August 1989, he was given a lifetime ban from the sport. He was also accused of betting on his own club.
