Move Data from Dropbox or OneDrive to Google Drive Easily

Recently, Google announced that they have revised their monthly storage plan and you can now store around 100 GB of data for just $1.99/month, previously $4.99.

For premium users, they have offered $9.99 for 1 TB and $100 for 10 TB. In contrast, Dropbox only offers 2GB for free and 100GB for $9.99 at the moment, five times what Google is offering. Now, I’m a OneDrive (formerly SkyDrive) user and I’m about to upgrade to Dropbox’s annual subscription for $50 a year for an extra 100GB of space, but when I look at the new price of Google Drive, I gave in to the allure of saving money.

Google Drive Price

When it comes to cloud storage, I’m not a fan of the brand. Be it OneDrive, Dropbox, or Google Drive, I look for features and pricing, and it looks to me like Google is winning right now. And the club that believes in the brand, switching seems like the logical choice.

The only problem in my way is how do I transfer all my files from OneDrive or Dropbox to Google Drive without using my bandwidth. That’s when MultCloud comes in, thanks to a tip left by one of our readers in this post.

Storage account

Note: We have seen the uses in the past with which we can access and transfer files between cloud storage engines, but all of them have some other limitations or limitations. MultCloud is now free to use with no bandwidth limitations. But I’m not sure how long it will last, so make the most of it while it lasts.

Move files from Dropbox or OneDrive to Google Drive using Multcloud

You can start creating an account with MultCloud and activate it. Once you’ve signed in to your account, it will ask you to add your first cloud storage drive. Select Google Drive from the list and grant MultCloud permissions on your Drive (there’s no way to do that without granting permissions, but it uses OAuth so it’s relatively secure).

Welcome to Multcloud

Once you’ve connected your account, you’ll see all the files and folders in MultCloud. You can manage files using MultCloud control panel, however, to transfer files we will need to add another cloud account that you want to transfer files from.

Add hosting account

To add a second account, click the option Add a cloud drive in the left sidebar and select the cloud service you are currently using. After you add the second account, just tick all the folders you want to move to your Google Drive and choose copy.

Having done that, navigate to Google Drive and paste the content in the desired folder. Now all you need to do is sit back and wait. MultCloud will copy all the files from one account to another without wasting your bandwidth and you can continue your work. If you want to see the progress, you can pin the tab on your browser.

Copy to

Using MultCloud, you can manage multiple cloud storage accounts without any restrictions other than handling the current maximum file size of 200 MB. Although this limitation is mentioned in their support page, I was still able to transfer video files as large as 1.21 GB using the service.

The service claims to not store your login information nor the files you have worked with. All transfers are done using 256-bit encryption and MultCloud’s authorization system is based on OAuth.

Conclusion

I bought the 100GB plan on Google Drive and I’m transferring all my data from Dropbox and OneDrive at the moment and everything seems to be working fine. So, if you’re also planning to switch to Google to save some money on your annual storage plans, don’t let the stress of transferring files from one service to another stop you. MultCloud is a simple way to do it.
