She attended Crossroads School in Santa Monica, California, and furthered her education at the University of California, Santa Cruz where she graduated in 1995 with a bachelor of arts degree in photography.

Maya is known as a cast member and her role on the NBC sketch comedy show Saturday Night Live. During her time on the show, she played supporting roles in the films 50 First Dates, A Prairie Home Companion, and Idiocracy.

Her portrayal of United States senator and vice-presidential candidate Kamala Harris on Saturday Night Live won her the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series

In 2022, she began starring in the comedy series Loot, also serving as an executive producer. However, In January 2023, Maya made headlines when the candy brand, M&M announced that she would replace its promotional cartoon characters, spokescandies.

The move comes after a rebrand of the cartoon versions of the chocolate treat, which appear in advertisements, caused a backlash. The company has stated that it will hire Maya Rudolph, as its spokesperson.

She’s also widely known for her use of the whistle register and has been referred to by the media as the ‘Queen of the Whistle Register.’

Maya’s mother was born on November 8, 1947, and she died on July 12, 1979. Her father, an Ashkenazi Jewish, is an American songwriter, musician, music publisher, and producer.
