Marisa Pavan died on Wednesday, December 6, 2023, at her home in Gassin, France. She was 91 and no cause was given making it unknown whether she battled any form of illness or died through an accident.

Her death was announced in a Facebook post by Margaux Soumoy the author of her 2021 biography; “Drop the Baby; Put a Veil on the Broad”

“You have lived a life of true inspiration and been a model of love and personal success. I am blessed to have been able to be a small part of your journey and will continue to cherish the memories and your story. May your lovely soul rest in peace with all those of your loved ones you will meet today. Bon voyage”

Born on June 19, 1932, Pavan developed a passion for acting at a younger age, and was consistent throughout her career, becoming one of the most sought-after actresses.

She appeared in several films such as; Diane (1956), The Man in the Gray Flannel Suit (1956), The Midnight Story (1957), and John Paul Jones (1959)

Pavan became a household name following her role as Rosa, the daughter of an Italian seamstress, Anna Magnani in the 1955 drama; “The Rose Tattoo”

Her performance in “The Rose Tattoo” earned her an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actress, an Academy Award nomination, and won a Golden Globe Award.

Pavan’s other film credits include; A Slightly Pregnant Man (1973), and Antoine and Sebastian (1974), The Moneychangers (1976). She played Abishag in King Vidor’s biblical epic Solomon and Sheba (1959).
