Planning a trip is one of the most enjoyable things about traveling. But if you don’t keep everything in one place, things can quickly get stressful. Google Travel is a useful service you can use to plan your trip.
Luckily, you can use several platforms to organize yourself and get the most out of your adventure. One of them is Google Travel, which is free to use and available to everyone with a Google account.
This article will show you how to use Google Travel to plan your trip. These tips should work if you use the desktop web app.
Book your flight
When planning a trip, you’ll probably start with booking a plane ticket. Doing this in Google Travel is pretty straightforward; Follow the steps below.
Step 1: Open the Google Travel website.
Step 2: On the left sidebar, click on the option titled Flights.
Step 3: Fill in the boxes asking you to provide your departure and destination airports – along with the dates you plan to travel, the number of people you will be flying, and the class of seats you want to fly.
Step 4: At the top of the next window, you’ll see what Google thinks is the best flight departure for you. As you scroll down you will find the rest. Select your choices, scroll down to the carrier and select whichever one you want to reserve under Reservation Preferences.
If you’re flexible with dates, you can go to the Charts or Daily Grid tabs to find the least expensive deals.
Similarly, if you scroll below the list of best departing flights, you can check to see the average cost for the time you fly.
Find a place to stay
Once you’ve booked your flight, you’ll need to find a place to stay. With Google Travel, you can search for both hotels – note that hostels will also show up in this category – and vacation rentals.
To find a hotel, you need to follow these steps.
Step 1: On the left sidebar, select Hotels; this is below Flights.
Step 2: Use the filters at the top to refine your search; you can choose your budget, choose which brands you want to display, etc
Step 3: From the search results listed, select Learn more next to the accommodation you want to book.
Step 4: Click Check Availability.
Step 5: You will see a list of sites to reserve; Sponsored selections will be featured at the top, with other selections below. Choose your desired option and complete the booking on their website.
If you would like to book a vacation rental, you can do so by following the steps below.
Step 1: Select Hostels for rent in the left sidebar.
Step 2: At the top, customize your search by selecting filters.
Step 3: Select Learn more once your search results have loaded.
Step 4: The following steps are subject to the property’s own rules. For some, you can scroll down to Pricing and Availability – and then select Visit Website.
In other cases, you may need to take some extra steps. If you are unable to make a reservation via one click in the box mentioned above, visit the Website at the top.
Once you’ve done this, the site with the list features will load. Some will allow you to book directly; Others will ask you to contact the owner and provide more information.
Build your journey
After booking your flight and accommodation, it’s time to start filling out your itinerary.
Once you’ve purchased either of the above, you can see that Google has created a ride for you. You can find this by going to the Travel tab.
If you don’t find anything there, scroll down to Create Trip.
On the next page, set details for your trip destination and the date you will be leaving. Then press Save.
Once you’ve done that, you’re ready to start adding to your journey. To do this, follow these steps.
Step 1: Select Add to trip.
Step 2: Choose what you want to add and fill in the necessary information in the next window.
For example, you can enter your airline code, airport code, and more when adding a flight.
Step 3: Repeat this process for everything you want to add.
If you’re not sure what you want to do, you can use Google Travel for inspiration. To do this, scroll down to Explore [Destination Name] and choose to see more things to see and do.
As you scroll down, you can find ideas and articles to help you. If you see something you like, click the bookmark icon to save it.
After you’ve bookmarked an experience or something else of interest, you can access it on your created trip by scrolling down to Saved To-dos/flights/hotels/etc and watched.
