The Messages app is a quick way to stay in touch with friends and family. While traveling to a place or a location in your city, you can share your live location using the Messages app. At times, you don’t want to share that but just want to inform that you’ve reached the destination or location safely.
Apple’s release of iOS 17 brings a new feature dubbed Apple Check In. As the name suggests, it’s a prompt-like intimation about reaching a location or destination that you can share with anyone.
We will share how to use Apple Check In on your iPhone. We tested this feature on iOS 17 Public Beta and it worked fine for use. It will be available to all iPhone users with the stable iOS 17 release later this fall.
What Is Apple Check In
Check In is available in the Messages app for iPhone users. You can select specific contacts and notify them after reaching a specific place like the airport, office, or reaching home. Apple Check In will share an encrypted notification that includes your current location info, route, battery level, and the signal strength on your iPhone. In a way, it’s like your last known location where you’ve reached safely.
Your arrival at the destination will be detected automatically by this feature. And most importantly, if your iPhone goes offline for an extended period, Check In will notify your contact.
