However, those odd working hours are bound to take their toll. And while we can’t help you hash out ideas for the next campaign, we can help make it easier on the eyes by helping you turn on Slack Dark Mode on your device.
While turning on Dark Mode might benefit your eyes, your device’s battery life, and even your sleep cycle, it is sometimes a matter of preference. Additionally, having one app in Light Mode while your entire system uses a Dark theme might not be the best of looks. So, keep reading to learn how to turn on Slack Dark Mode on any device.
1. Enable Dark Mode on Slack App for Smartphones
If you’re an Android user, you can use the settings menu in the Slack app to enable Dark Mode. However, iPhone users must enable Dark Mode from their device’s settings menu. Here’s a step-by-step look at how to do it on both devices.
I. Using Slack Android App
Step 1: Open the Slack app on your Android device.
Step 2: Tap on You in the bottom right corner of the screen.
Step 3: Tap on Preferences.
Step 4: Here, tap on Dark Mode.
Step 5: Select On.
Tip: If you want to use your system’s theme, select the System default option.
This will ensure the Slack Android app changes to Dark Mode. Additionally, if you’re an iPhone user and your device is running iOS 12 or lower, you can use this option to enable Dark Mode on Slack.
Other iPhone users, however, will need to enable Dark Mode using your iPhone’s system settings. Keep reading to know how.
II. Using Your iPhone’s Settings Menu
Step 1: Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
Step 2: Then, tap on ‘Display & Brightness’.
Step 3: Tap on Dark.
This will instantly enable Dark Mode system-wide on your iPhone. This will also switch Slack to Dark Mode.
2. Change Slack to Dark Mode on the Web Browser
If you’re using Slack on your web browser, you can use the options available on Slack’s website to turn on Dark Mode. Or, if you’re using Chrome, you can use Chrome’s experimental Flags feature to load Slack on Dark Mode. Follow the below steps to do it.
I. Using Slack Website
Step 1: Open Slack on any web browser.
Step 2: Then, click on your profile icon in the top panel.
Step 3: Here, select Preferences.
Step 4: Go to Themes and click on Dark.
This will instantly change Slack to Dark Mode on your web browser.
II. Using Chrome Flags
Step 1: Click on Search, type Google Chrome, and open Chrome from the search results.
Step 2: Now, open the Chrome Flags page.
Step 3: Go to the search bar and type ‘Auto Dark Mode‘.
Step 4: Once the ‘Auto Dark Mode for Web Contents’ flag becomes visible, click on the drop-down in front of it.
Step 5: From the options, click on Enabled.
Step 6: Save all your work and click on Relaunch.
Once Chrome restarts, it will force all websites to load in Dark Mode, including Slack. If you ever feel like reverting to Light Mode, follow the above steps and select Default from the drop-down. Then, relaunch Chrome.
Tip: If you’re using Edge, turn on Dark Mode using Edge’s settings menu. Firefox users can use extensions to enable Dark Mode for the browser.
3. Turn on Dark Mode for Slack App on Desktop
If you’re a Windows or macOS user, you can use Slack’s exclusive app. And once you’re all set to go, switch it to Dark Mode using the below-mentioned steps.
Note: The steps to change Slack to dark mode are similar for Mac and Windows PC. For illustration, we are using Windows, but you can also follow them on Mac.
Step 1: Go to Search and type Slack. Then, open the Slack Windows app from the search results.
Note: If you’re a Mac user, press Command + Spacebar together to launch Spotlight Search, type Slack, and open it.
Step 2: From the menu panel, click on your profile icon.
Step 3: Then, click on Preferences.
Step 4: From the menu panel, click on Themes.
Step 5: Then, select Dark.
This will ensure the Slack Windows or Mac app switches to Dark Mode. Additionally, you can also select the ‘Sync with OS settings’ option to change Slack to Dark Mode as long as it is enabled for your Mac or Windows PC.
Don’t Strain Your Eyes
