How to Transfer Music from iPhone to iTunes On PC or Mac

iTunes sync is the perfect example of how another creative company can mess up a simple copy/paste of media.

A few days ago I had to format my computer due to a technical problem and I didn’t know for a fact that iTunes library files should be on my backup list (yes, the ‘I’ll do it’ list) roof’).

The damage has been done and my iTunes is now a clean medium.

Itunes sync

All I want is my iTunes library in a way that it includes all the playlists I’ve created without erasing the content on my iPhone, because that’s my only hope of getting my music back. .

But I underestimated iTunes’ annoyance index. There is no support for two-way sync in iTunes and it wants me to erase the contents of my iPhone and do a new sync. Since wiping iPhone for new sync is not an option, I started looking for alternatives and I found some.

Today we will see two ways by which you can get music back from iPhone to your computer. While the first method uses free software, it can only copy the contents of the iPhone back to the hard drive and you will have to manually copy the content to iTunes.

However, in the second method we will use a paid app with which you can directly copy your iPhone back to iTunes, including all the playlists that can take you a few days or even weeks and months to build.

Import music from iPhone to iTunes with iFunBox

iFunBox is a file manager and iPhone, iPad and iPod touch application based on Windows and Mac. The application can be installed for free and without any limitations for home use.

After you install the app, plug your iOS device into your computer and exit the iTunes app if it opens automatically. Please make sure that there is no instance of iTunes or QuickTime running before you launch iFunBox.

Import music Ifunbox

Once the app detects the connected device, navigate to the Quick ToolBox and select the option Music Under Export data file part.

iFunBox will then ask you for the folder you want to import the music file into. After you specify a folder, iFunBox will copy all the music from your iOS device to your computer. You can then import the music back into iTunes and continue syncing. You’ll get all your music when you sync your data, but you’ll lose all the playlists you’ve created on your phone.

Import with Wondershare TunesGo

If you don’t want to lose your playlists, there is an option called TunesGo from Wondershare. The app comes with a 15-day trial, but that won’t help because of the 20-song limit. So you will need the paid version.

After you install the full version of the app, run it and plug your iOS device into your computer. Here too, make sure iTunes and QuickTime are running on your computer.

After the app detects your device, on the main screen of the app you will see the option Switch to iTunes. Just click the option and wait for the app to analyze the music files on your iOS device and compare it with your iTunes library.

After comparison, TunesGo will give you the number of tracks and playlists missing from iTunes installed on your computer. Now all you need to do is click the import to iTunes button and leave the rest to TunesGo.

TunesGo will take some time to copy content to your computer depending on how many tracks you have on your device. When the process is complete, you can exit Tunes Go and open iTunes. You’ll see the same tracks and playlists as they did on your device before you lost them.

Note: TunesGo may have problems recreating nested playlists, and one may have to manually categorize them once they’ve been imported into iTunes.

Conclusion

So here are two ways by which you can get your music back from your iPhone to iTunes and do a sync with your new PC or Mac without losing any data. While Wondershare TunesGo may be a paid app, they have plenty of holiday gifts and deals you can grab. Also, if you want to suggest any other apps for this task, just let us know in the comments.
