Quick Tips
- You can enable the three-finger swipe down, or the Quick Tap gestures to capture screenshots without using physical buttons.
- Alternatively, you can also enable and use the floating Accessibility Menu to capture screenshots.
- Third-party apps like Screenshot Assistant, or Screenshot Touch let you capture screenshots without using the power/volume buttons.
Method 1: Use Gestures
You can use Gestures to capture a screenshot – on my Xiaomi device, I was able to go to Settings > Additional Settings > Gestures and enable the Slide 3 fingers down gesture.
Whenever I swipe down on the screen with three fingers, the device captures a screenshot.

Method 2: Use Quick Tap (Pixel Devices)
On a Pixel, or a device running stock Android – go to Settings > System > Gestures and enable Quick Tap. Then, select the Take Screenshot option. You can now tap the back of your device twice to capture a screenshot.
Method 3: Use Accessibility Menu Shortcut
The Accessibility Menu packs in handy shortcuts that can be accessed by a floating button. Go to Settings > Accessibility > Accessibility Menu and enable the shortcut.
You will see a yellow colored floating button on your screen. Tap on it, and you will find a set of shortcuts – and you will find a Screenshot button. You can access this floating menu and the shortcuts while using any application.
Method 4: Use Quickball
You may also find the Quickball or Assistive Ball feature on your device. Go to Settings > Additional Settings or Special Features to enable the same. You will now see a floating button that will appear on any app that you are using – tap on it and then use the capture screenshot button.

Method 5: Use Third-Party Apps
If you’re not comfortable with, or unable to find the above shortcuts – you can always use a third-party app from Google Play Store to capture screenshots without physical buttons.
1. Screenshot Touch
Screenshot Touch adds a floating button to capture a screenshot. This button is available on any app you are using.
Download the Screenshot Touch app, open it, and enable the Accessibility service. (You will be redirected to the Settings app – select downloaded apps and enable the Screenshot Touch app)
Then, open the Start capture monitoring service in the app, and the floating button will be enabled. Tap on it to capture a screenshot.
2. Screenshot Assistant
Screenshot Assistant is an app that lets you capture screenshots as you tap and hold the home button.
Download the Screenshot Assistant app, open it, and tap on Assist App Preferences. Then, you will have to replace the Digital Assistant app with the Screenshot Assistant app – meaning you won’t be able to access Google Assistant from the home button shortcut.
Once you do the above, tap and hold the home button to capture the screenshot.
