Listening to music when you are alone is happiness. Connect your headphones to your phone and play your favorite tracks through the music player for Android or iPhone. When you want your friends or significant other to listen to your favorite music at the same time, you’ll need an audio splitter to connect two pairs of headphones. However, the 3.5mm jack is not common anymore. A good solution to this problem is audio sharing.
Just like how you can connect two AirPods to one iPhone and share audio simultaneously, Dual Audio on Samsung smartphones allows you to do the same. This is a feature that allows you to connect two pairs of headphones or earbuds to one phone and then stream the same media to both devices at the same time.
This requires a Samsung Galaxy smartphone running on One UI 3.0 or later. Here’s how to use Dual Audio to listen to music with another person.
What is dual audio and how does it work?
Dual audio is a feature baked into Samsung Galaxy phones that allows you to stream the same audio on two Bluetooth devices at the same time. Devices can be two pairs of headphones, a pair of headphones and speakers, or any Bluetooth device. This feature is quite useful if you are traveling with someone and want to enjoy the same playlist or watch a movie together.
So Dual Audio allows you to connect two Bluetooth devices to your Samsung Galaxy phone at the same time.
Since this feature is built-in on Samsung Galaxy phones running One UI 3.0 or later, follow these simple steps and you’ll be good to go.
Step 1: Open the Settings app on your Samsung phone and select the Connections tab. Ideally, the first option is at the top below your account information.
Step 2: Tap the switch next to Bluetooth to turn it on if you haven’t already. Once done, tap the Bluetooth tab to expand the settings.
Step 3: Pair the first pair of headphones or earphones that you want to connect to your phone. After pairing, leave the headset connected.
Step 4: Now pair the second pair of headphones or earphones that you want to connect to your Samsung phone.
Step 5: As soon as you pair both headphones and let them connect to each other, you will see a pop-up in the Bluetooth menu asking if you want to listen together. The prompt says you can play audio on both Bluetooth devices at the same time.
Step 6: Tap ‘Go to Media Output’ in the prompt.
Step 7: You should now see a card showing your media output options. Again, check that your Bluetooth devices are connected and listed on the screen.
Step 8: Select the checkbox next to the Bluetooth device you want to play audio from. One of the checkboxes is checked. Make sure you select one next to your headset or another Bluetooth headset.
Step 9: Open any media player of your choice and play a song or video. The audio will play through both Bluetooth devices connected to your Samsung Galaxy smartphone.
You can now listen to songs or watch movies with others using this feature on your Samsung Galaxy phone. You won’t have to share one earbud with them or play media through the speakers and disturb those around you.
How to change the volume of each headset connected via dual audio
Now that both Bluetooth headphones are connected to the same phone, it’s important to set individual volume levels for each device so that the listener feels comfortable. Here’s how you can do it.
Step 1: Play a song, video or movie using both headphones connected to the phone.
Step 2: Press one of the keys in the volume rocker. Instead of one volume slider, you’ll now see two volume sliders side by side.
Step 3: Just press and hold one of the sliders and you can see the name of the device controlled by that slider displayed above it. Drag the respective sliders up or down to adjust the volume level.
How to manage connected devices
Let’s say you watched a movie by sharing audio between two pairs of headphones and now you might want to take a break or take a nap. You can manage connected devices and change output devices by following these steps.
Step 1: Swipe down from the top of the phone screen to open the notification drawer.
Step 2: Select the Media Output tab in the quick settings on/off buttons.
Step 3: Now you will see all connected devices. Uncheck the checkbox next to the headset that you want to stop sharing audio with.
This will only play media through your selected headset.
Play media on two headphones at the same time
It’s pretty simple – pair two headphones at the same time, share the Audio on your Samsung phone with others. Everyone has a customized experience because the volume level is also different
