Whether you want to record a game playing on your phone or record a class for later reference, screen recording really helps. Besides, you can also record the screen showing a method to learn and share it with friends or others on the web.
Whether you’re recording your screen on Windows or a smartphone, there are several ways to do it, from third-party apps to the native way. However, Samsung’s One UI has a lot of features and one of them is a screen recorder. Here’s how to record screen on Samsung Galaxy Phone using native screen recording app.
How to record screen using the built-in Screen Recorder on Samsung Galaxy phones
Android 11 brought the screen recorder as a native feature in the operating system. It’s a bit late because this feature has existed on most custom skins on Android since the last few years. Samsung’s One UI brings a built-in screen recorder, like some other phone makers. Before using it, you may want to set it up for best performance.
Set up Screen Recorder
On your Samsung Galaxy phone running One UI, starting the screen recorder for the first time isn’t as easy as turning the phone off.
Step 1: Open the Settings app on your smartphone and scroll down to the Advanced Features section.
Step 2: Scroll down and tap on ‘Screenshots and screen recorders.’
This is where you will be able to tailor the recorded screen to your preferences. The first few options are screenshot related, so feel free to skip that part.
Step 3: In the Screen Recording section, tap the Sound option.
A drop-down menu will open to allow you to choose to turn off the audio completely, record only media audio, or use audio from the media and microphone.
Selecting Multimedia sound will record the internal sounds of the phone, including ringtones, notification tones, and any multimedia sounds such as game or meeting sounds. ‘Media audio and microphone’ captures internal and external sounds from the microphone on the phone. This is useful when you want to add voice overs or you also want to record what you are saying.
Step 4: The next step is to determine the quality of the video you want to shoot. Select the Video quality option and choose the appropriate value.
Set it to High because 1080p is the ideal resolution when you need to share videos. The quality will be best at this resolution. If you want to reduce the file size and don’t mind losing quality, you can choose Medium (720p). Avoid choosing the Low setting (480p) as video quality greatly affects this setting.
Step 5: While these are basic settings, an additional feature available on Samsung Galaxy phones is the ability to record your face from the front camera while you are recording the screen. This is a great way to add a personal touch, especially when you’re playing a game.
Use the slider to set the size of the selfie video shown in the screen recording.
Step 6: Finally, use the toggle button at the bottom if you want to show taps and taps on the screen while recording. This is useful if you are recording instructions or something that involves following several steps.
Use Screen Recorder
After setting up the screen recorder on your Samsung Galaxy phone, it’s time to start recording. Here’s how to do it.
Step 1: Swipe down from the top of the screen to enter the notification center. Swipe down again to access Quick Toggles.
Step 2: Find the Screen Recorder toggle button. The location will vary depending on your layout.
Step 3: After tapping the toggle button, you will see a pop-up asking you for the sound settings again. Select the option you want. You can also turn the faucet on or off from here.
Step 4: When you’re ready to start recording, tap Start Recording.
A countdown timer will start and as soon as the clock is over, recording will begin.
Step 5: The top-right corner of your screen contains some essential controls that we’ll take a look at. First, the arrows collapse those controls to make them less distracting during recording. Once collapsed, you can drag the small sidebar to the left to bring the controls back.
Step 6: The pencil icon will allow you to write on the screen during recording. This is useful for presentations or taking notes.
You can also tap the color to transition the color and adjust the brush thickness. Tap the pencil again to erase your text.
Step 7: The portrait icon allows the front camera to record selfie videos while recording the screen.
The video will appear in a small circular window on the main screen. You can drag the window to any position you want. Tap the icon again to turn the feature off.
Step 8: The last two buttons are used to pause recording or stop recording.
After you stop recording, you will receive a notification that your video has been saved. You can choose to share it directly from the notification center. Also, you can edit or delete it.
You can now record the screen on your Samsung Galaxy phone and share it online with your friends, or upload it to a platform like YouTube where people all over the world can watch it. Whether it’s a session from your favorite game or you’re just sketching with the S Pen, this is a great way to share what’s on your screen.
