All OnePlus phones come with a Google Phone app that allows you to record calls without any problems. Here’s how you can record calls on a OnePlus phone.
OnePlus dropped the Oxygen OS Phone app and integrated Google’s solution with all of their services. Google offers call recording when it is legal and not prohibited by law. If the call recording option isn’t shown to you, it’s likely that OnePlus has disabled the function to comply with local laws in your region.
Record calls on OnePlus phones
Unless there’s a very solid reason, you shouldn’t record calls without the user’s consent and violate someone’s privacy. Again, we recommend that you check the laws in your area regarding the recording of phone conversations. Follow the steps below to record calls on a OnePlus phone.
Step 1: Open the Phone app on your OnePlus phone.
Step 2: While on a call, swipe left on the call screen to find the Record option.
Step 3: Click Record.
Step 4: Everyone on the call will be notified in advance that the call is being recorded—select start recording.
Step 5: The application will start recording voice conversations. You can use the same option to stop recording calls.
If you don’t want to select this option manually for every call, there is an option to automatically record all calls.
Automatically record calls on OnePlus phones
You can automatically record every call from unknown numbers and even set the Phone app to record calls from specific contacts. Go through the steps below to make changes.
Step 1: Launch the Phone app on your OnePlus phone.
Step 2: Tap the Recent option at the bottom.
Step 3: Tap the three-dot menu in the upper right corner.
Step 4: Tap Settings.
Step 5: Click Record call.
Step 6: You will have two options to automatically record calls from the ‘Always record’ menu.
Numbers not in your contacts: Turning on the toggle will automatically record any calls from an unknown number.
Selected numbers: It allows you to automatically record calls from selected contacts.
Step 7: Click on Selected Number.
Step 8: Click Select contact option.
Step 9: Select contacts from the following menu. The selected contacts will show up in the same menu. You can always tap the x and modify the contact list.
Delete call recording on OnePlus phones
Call recording doesn’t take up much space on your phone. However, you do have the option to automatically delete call logs from your phone.
Step 1: Launch the Settings of the Phone app (refer to the steps above).
Step 2: Click Call Recording.
Step 3: Select Delete record.
Step 4: You can delete call recording after a week, two weeks or a month.

Step 2: Find your entire call history from the Recent menu.

Should you record calls using a third-party app on OnePlus
Before that, it was pretty easy to record calls on any Android phone. The Play Store offers several third-party call recording apps. Any third party application can be selected for call recording. After Google changed its policy on May 11, 2022, third-party apps can no longer record calls using the Android Accessibility API.
Truecaller, one of the popular third-party call recording apps on Android, has removed the recording function from its official Android app. These apps cannot access the device’s microphone during an ongoing call. It looks like Google has finally managed to put an end to third-party call recording apps that allow anyone to record calls without the user’s consent.
The same limitations do not apply to the default Phone app on your Android phone. If the default Phone app (for OnePlus, it’s the Google Phone app) offers an option to record calls, it doesn’t need to resort to any sketchy workarounds to get the job done. In short, you cannot use any call recording app from Play Store to record calls on OnePlus.
