Sharing photos on social networks like Facebook and Google+ is fun. Your friends can enjoy as much as you did on your previous trip by looking at the photos you’ve uploaded. Most of us use the traditional way to create an online album on our favorite social sharing site and then share the link with our family and friends. Easy and simple.
Indeed, album creation will never get old, it has been since we had Polaroid photos and heavy flip books. However, depending on the photos you’re sharing, you might want to try new things to give them a great retouch. Google Plus Stories, also known as Google Photo Stories, is a great way to share photos when it comes to a weekend or holiday trip.
What makes Google Photo Stories so great?
Albums you create in Google Stories not only organize your photos in a horizontal timeline view, but also provide a great map view of the entire trip. Believe me, it’s a great feature and in fact the only feature that made me start using Google Photos in the first place. However, on the web interface, there is no way to create these stories manually. They are automatically generated by Google’s algorithm when you upload your photos.
There is no doubt about the fact that these stories look very beautiful. But there are certain limitations as they are automatically generated. If you have about 500 photos, it will generate stories from randomly selected photos and not give you the option to make a choice. However, things get better once you start using the smartphone app for Google Photos. There you have the option to create these stories manually along with collage and motion GIF files.
Create Google Photo Stories manually
To create these Stories manually on your smartphone, open the Google Photos app and go to the assistant tab. There you will find the updates from Google Photos that you have received. Tap the + icon in the top right to get started.
Here, select Story do mode and start selecting photos from your Google Photos library. You can also choose cartoon, Movie or collage depending on the photos you want to share. A minimum of 8 photos is required to create a photo story.
Finally touch Create to start the photo story creation process. If the photo is stored on a local library and not uploaded to Google Photos, it will first be uploaded to Google’s servers, then Story will be created.

And the reason why you want to do that is because the photo automatically changes and the background music makes the photo come to life.
PhotoStory – A beautiful alternative
The name of the application is PhotoStory, works on Android phones and is quite easy to use. You can select photos from your album and create a music slideshow. The app offers several tracks, or you can choose one from your internal library. It also supports video effects and they are some of the filters you can apply.
Once you’re done, the video can be exported in low to high resolution. It takes time to process and save the video at a higher resolution. Apps are supported by ads and you’ll see them on almost any screen. They take up space in the footer or header of the application. The processed videos can then be shared using various social channels or saved to the SD card.
Conclusion
Google Stories will always be my top priority when it comes to sharing photos online. But I really like PhotoStory better when I need to send some photos to my parents. They know how to send and receive messages on WhatsApp and anything beyond that is not in their safe zone. PhotoStory makes it easy for them to view our photos as autoplay videos with just one tap.
