Step 2: Click the voice call button in the upper right corner of the chat frame.

Step 3: Click Yes to give WhatsApp access to your microphone.

The call will now be made. This is what the call screen looks like before being connected.

Step 4: Once the call is connected, it will remain as a pinned window and will also act as an overlay over other apps.

Step 5: In case you want to change the microphone or speaker, click on the pinned to expand window and click on the three dots icon.

If you’re making voice calls on the WhatsApp desktop app, switching to video calls is pretty straightforward. All you need to do is click on the video call icon on the voice call screen. This will notify the participant on the other end that you are requesting to switch to a video call.

After they accept the same, you can play your video and continue the video call.

But what about receiving voice and video calls on the WhatsApp desktop app? It is possible to get both on your laptop, but it seems complicated at first. We noticed that we were not able to receive calls at first. Turns out, we didn’t turn on the same notifications.

Step 1: Open the Settings app on your PC and click System > Notifications.

Step 2: Turn on the switch for Notifications and make sure you also have the switch on for WhatsApp.

Step 4: Click the Notification panel in the sidebar and toggle the switch for Calls.

Step 5: You will now be able to receive voice or video calls on the WhatsApp desktop app.
