How to Install Custom CXMB Themes on PSP – Guiding Tech

Sony PSP, the great portable game console, supports themes to suit everyone’s taste. If you want to apply an official theme you can simply copy it to your PSP Themes folder and apply it from Install PSP theme. However, most of these official themes are boring and not very eye-catching. On the other hand, custom CXMB (Custom XrossMediaBar) themes are cool, fun and beautiful, but you can’t use them right away.

Turn on theme

To use the CXMB theme, your PSP must be running a custom firmware that has the CXMB plugin installed on it. We have already seen how you can install custom firmware on your PSP, so now let’s see how to install the CXMB plugin to use custom themes.

Note: I have tested the procedure on a PSP E-1004 Street running on a Pro B9 LCFW but I am sure the procedure will work on almost all PSPs that support memory cards and are running on custom firmware .

So let’s see how you can use amazing custom themes on your PSP.

Using Custom Themes on PSP

Step 1: Download the CXMB plugin for your PSP and extract the files it contains to a folder in your computer. You will get a CXMB folder along with a text file. Leave it like that for a while

Step 2: Make sure your PSP is running on custom firmware and mount the PSP Memory Stick on your computer and move the CXMB to the root of the Memory Stick.

Step 3: Now, navigate to jacks on your Memory Stick folder and open the folder vsh.txt text file. If you don’t already have these files and folders on your PSP Memory Stick, you’ll have to create them manually. Folder jacks folder should be created in Memory Stick root folder and folder vsh.txt should be created in jacks folder.
