How to Hide Apps Purchase History on iPhone, iPad, and Mac

The App Store offers a lot of free and paid apps to its users. When you first download the app, you need to authenticate your Face ID or Touch ID. You won’t have to do this again while deleting and reinstalling those same apps on your Mac, iPhone, or iPad.

But what if you don’t want others, especially your kids, to re-download those apps on your device? In that case, you need to hide your app purchase history. This quick guide will show you exactly that for your Mac, iPhone, and iPad.

Hide app purchase history on Mac

Your Mac has a built-in App Store that works just like it does on an iPhone. The main benefit of using a Mac for this activity is that you can easily view a categorized list of Mac apps and iPhone & iPad apps. Of course, you’ll need your Mac’s stable Wi-Fi network connection so that all the changes you make won’t be reversed. Follow these steps.

Step 1: Press Cmd + Space to launch Spotlight, type App Storeand press Return to open the App Store.

Step 2: Click on your profile icon in the lower left corner.

The Account Settings page will open your screen.

Step 3: Scroll down to find the list of Purchased Apps.

Step 4: Move your mouse pointer next to the app you want to hide. Then click on the three dots.

Step 5: When a menu opens, select Hide Purchases.

Step 7: Click the Hide Purchase button on the prompt to confirm your action.

You will need to repeat the process for all the apps that you want to hide. Unfortunately, there is no way to select multiple apps at once and hide them all at once. Also, if you or anyone in your household tries to re-download the app, your Touch ID or password will be required.

This step will also come in handy every time you buy a new Mac. Just sign in to your Apple ID, open the App Store, and download apps you’ve previously installed on your Mac without entering Touch ID.

Hide App Purchase History on iPhone and iPad

In addition to Mac, you can use your iPhone and iPad to hide your app purchase history. That comes in handy if you share your device with a younger family member. For this method, we used an iPhone to take a screenshot. The steps remain the same for iPad users. Here are the steps.

Step 1: Open the App Store.

Step 2: Tap your profile icon in the top right corner.

Step 3: From the Account Settings page, tap Purchased.

You will see a list of all your purchased apps on your screen.

Step 4: From the list of all apps, find the apps that you want to hide.

Step 5: Swipe left to reveal the Hide option.

Step 6: Tap it to Hide that particular app.

Step 7: Click Done to return to the App Store homepage.

You are also presented with a list of apps that you have chosen to download on your previous iPhone and iPad. If you want to hide previously downloaded apps, follow these steps.

Step 1: On the Purchased page, select the option Not available on this iPhone.

The apps you were using on your previous iPhone will be listed on your screen.

Step 2: Select the app you want to hide and swipe left.

Step 3: Tap the Hide option.

Step 4: Tap Done.

If you want to re-download any deleted app, just search for it on the App Store and download it to your device. If you upgraded your secure game on your iPhone or iPad, your Face ID or Touch ID will be asked to download it again.

Easily hide app purchase history

These steps will make it easy for you to hide your app from your purchase history. You can do this on your Mac, iPhone, and iPad to hide them from the list of apps that appear for their respective platforms. Apple has started providing support for all three platforms for a lot of their own and third-party apps. WhatsApp and Telegram are the biggest examples of the same. There are plenty of other apps as well as Slack and Basecamp available for Mac, iPhone, and iPad. We hope that more free and paid apps will continue to receive support for all three platforms.
