Samsung started the curved screen trend with the launch of the Galaxy Note Edge in 2014. Along with that, the company introduced Edge panel software to take advantage of the curved screen on Galaxy devices. Over the years, curved monitors have gone from a mess to a minimal implementation. Samsung has improved the Edge panel add-on to the point where every other phone maker is trying to imitate it.
The Google Play Store is filled with third-party copies of the Edge console, but nothing close to the original implementation right out of the box. With the latest One UI 3.1, the Edge panel is still as powerful and feature-rich as ever. And the good news is that it’s no longer limited to high-end Galaxy devices.
Read on to learn how to set up and use the Edge panel like a pro on Samsung phones. That said, the Edge Panel is still limited to some Galaxy phones.
Where is the edge panel on Samsung GALAXY phones
The Edge panel is hidden on the right or left side of the screen. You can recognize it by a transparent white bar. Just swipe to the Samsung home screen and you can access your most used apps, contacts, tools, clipboard, etc.
Edge panel customization
Before we get started with the Edge Panel features and dig deep, let’s change the default appearance and size of the Edge Panel. By default, it is pinned to the right edge of the home screen and is white with some transparency.
Samsung, is Samsung that allows you to change every aspect of it. Follow the steps below to make the relevant changes.
Step 1: Open the Settings menu on your Galaxy device.
Step 2: Go to the Display menu.
Step 3: Scroll down and tap Edge Panel.

Step 5: You can change the default position from Right to Left. Lock the handle position.
If you use your phone with your left hand, you may want to change the Edge Panel from right to left.
You can also play with dozens of color options to change the look and feel of the dashboard indicator. If you are using a white background image, you should change the color from white to another color.
Samsung also gives an option to play with the transparency and size of the panel indicator. Users can customize the size, position, color, and transparency of the Edge Panel indicator.
Add, remove, and manage edge panels
By default, Samsung offers the most used apps and contacts in the top two edge panels. However, you can change that and add as many Edge panels to the sidebar. Here’s how.
Step 1: Swipe and open the Edge Panel.
Step 2: Click on the small Settings menu.
Step 3: Here you can see Apps, People, Smart Selection, Actions, Weather, Tools, Reminders, and Clipboard.
You can enable those Edge Panels based on your preferences. One can also tap on the Edit option at the bottom and edit each table.
For example, you can select Edit in the Applications menu and select the apps you want at your fingertips. One can create dual apps and even integrate folders into the edge panel.
To rearrange edge panels, you can press and hold an edge panel and move their position from the following menu. You can also tap the three-dot menu in the upper-right corner and select Rearrange option.
Download more edge panel
The Edge panel isn’t just limited to default choices. You can also download the relevant Edge Panels from the Galaxy store. Follow the steps below to download them.
Step 1: Swipe and open the Edge panel.
Step 2: Click on the small Settings menu.
Step 3: Select Galaxy Store at the bottom.
You can view and install third-party Edge control panels like Desktop Control Panel, Live Calls Panel, Now Playing, Calendar Panel, Voice Recorder, Notes, etc. There are several options. pay is fine. You are sure to stumble across something you like and like.
Disable Edge Panel
If you’re not a fan of the Edge panel and accidentally find yourself opening menus all the time, you can disable the feature entirely. Follow the steps to disable Edge Panel on Samsung devices.
