LEGO Fortnite features a multitude of resources and ingredients, but the uncommon gem, amber, is one of the most sought-after. You’ll need amber to progress in LEGO Fortnite, but it’s not exactly easy to acquire, and to get the most out of it, you’ll have to refine it.
This primer details how to get rough amber and how to refine it into cut amber, along with what sort of items you can craft with amber in the survival crafting game from LEGO Group and Epic Games.
Where to find & how to get rough amber

In its natural form, amber in LEGO Fortnite is classified as rough amber. You might come across amber in chests and loot llamas from time to time, but aside from that, this valuable resource is exclusive to the Dry Valley.
While exploring the Dry Valley, you’ll find rough amber high on the many mesas that populate this biome. Rough amber is a shiny gold colour, so while it blends in somewhat with the rest of the biome’s palette, it’s not too difficult to spot!
The hardest part of the process is getting up to the amber deposits. To reach the rough amber, either use the geysers in the area to launch up to the cliffs or build like you would in Battle Royale!
To mine rough amber, you need an uncommon, rare, or epic pickaxe. Rough amber is particularly taxing on equipment, too, so you should probably bring an extra if you want to collect multiple stacks of the precious gem. Alternatively, you can blow the amber deposits up with dynamite, but that might not be the most responsible use of your blast powder and knotroot rods.
How to get cut amber

To refine rough amber into cut amber, you need a Gem Cutter. Gem Cutters are relatively resource intensive, requiring 20 marble slabs, five rough amber, five sand claws, and
three sand shells to craft. However, once you get all the ingredients together, you’ll receive a cut amber for every rough amber you deposit into the Gem Cutter.

Amber isn’t really used for building structures, furniture, or decorations, but it is a key ingredient in the Essence Table. Furthermore, you’ll need refined amber to craft many of the game’s rare equipment like tools, weapons, trinkets, and charms.
As you advance in Survival mode, you’ll get to a point where a lack of amber is holding you back. Visit the Dry Valley with an uncommon pickaxe or better and scale the mesas to find and mine rough amber. After that, toss the rough amber into a Gem Cutter, and you’ll have cut amber, which you can use to create all kinds of interesting items in LEGO Fortnite!
