Ghostrunner 2 Ahriman boss strategy & how to beat

Learning how to beat Ahriman in Ghostrunner 2 with our boss strategy will ensure you can deal with the first of many bosses you’ll face off within the game.

Ghostrunner 2 is very similar to the first game, but it’s been expanded to include far more, including more collectibles, larger levels, boss fights, and even a motorbike you can ride through the ruins of the world with.

One aspect that hasn’t changed with this game is the difficulty, as I died over and over as I was getting to grips with the game and its new mechanics. This goes especially for boss fights, where one wrong move will send you back to the start.

So, take a look at our Ghostrunner 2 Ahriman strategy and learn how to beat the first boss in the game.

How to defeat Ahriman in Ghostrunner 2

Defeating Ahriman in Ghostrunner 2 simply requires you to hit him until he has no more health, but it’s not that straightforward, as the fight comes with two phases, and he has many moves that will instantly force you to reload a save.

The general strategy you’ll want to make use of for this fight involves staying agile and moving around as much possible to dodge attacks between attacking Ahriman yourself.

Phase one

The first stage of the Ahriman boss fight in Ghostrunner 2 is the easiest part, and you’ll only have to worry about three simple attacks.

Once the cutscene ends and the fight begins, Ahriman will begin dashing around, trying to get behind you so he can perform an attack. Just keep dashing and keeping him in your sight here until he attacks.

Once he stops dashing, he will either swing his sword around in an arc in front of him, or slam it on the ground directly. You’ll want to then dodge behind him to avoid either attack, and then start hitting him.

After taking some hits, he may then dash away and jump into the middle of the arena to slam down his sword, which causes a shockwave of energy to radiate out in a circle on the floor. Just jump over this and keep attacking.

Once you get Ahriman to 75% health, the second phase of the fight will trigger, beginning with a cutscene where he blasts you away.

Phase two

After the cutscene ends and phase two begins, you’ll immediately need to grapple up to Bakunin to save yourself. Then, you’ll need to get back to the arena to keep fighting Ahriman.

Run across the walls in front of you, but make sure to keep your sword up to block or deflect any ranged attacks, as Ahriman will throw blades at you until you get back.

Once you grapple hook again and land in the arena, Bakunin will electrocute Ahriman, which freezes him in place until he’s attacked, giving you a chance to get in some hits quickly.

You can continue to use this ability with the F key (or your controller equivalent) throughout the rest of the fight, but it has a recharge bar which is noted at the bottom left of the screen.

Once you begin fighting Ahriman again, it’s similar to the first phase of the fight, except that he moves a little quicker, and his attacks have extra effects that make them harder to dodge.

He’ll continue to dash around you, so keep your eye on him and watch for his attacks. The wide arc swing attack will now be quicker and have a bigger arc, while the overhand smash attack causes straight lines of energy to travel sideways from the impact zone, meaning you’ll need to jump over these.

He can also jump into the air and fire blades at you, which you just need to block or dodge out of the way.

Finally, his jump and shockwave attack is also stronger, as the shockwave can no longer be jumped over. Instead, you will need to look up at Bakunin and grapple to him just as the shockwave gets close, allowing you to avoid it.

Continue attacking Ahriman whenever you dodge one of his attacks, and whenever you can use the electrocution attack to stun him, use it and get some free hits in.

That’s all for our explanation of the Ghostrunner 2 Ahriman boss and how to defeat him, so you can progress through the game.
