YouTube is asking you to pull up for an exact search because of a bug with the app’s accessibility feature.
According to Team YouTube’s official Twitter account, they are looking into this bug.
Apparently, exact search mode is enabled by default for Android users.
The mode is enabled even if the user does not pull up.
Many users are complaining about this issue on Twitter, Reddit and other platforms.
Joe Vargas on Twitter got a YouTube response.
Here is his tweet, “Exact search not working correctly. It’s on by default and I can’t turn it off! It’s happening even when I don’t pull it up! Please fix it immediately!”.
Here’s a Reddit post by u/imgoinginsane22, “Suddenly, I can no longer jump to a specific point in the video by clicking on the progress bar. When I do that, it goes into exact search mode until I exit it.”
How to fix “Pull up for exact search” error on YouTube
To fix the “Pull up to exact search” error on YouTube, you need to go into accessibility settings and hide the player controls after 3 seconds.
After you select “After 3 seconds”, the exact search mode will no longer be displayed.
Additionally, you’ll be able to skip certain parts of YouTube videos.
Here’s how to hide the player controls:
- Open the YouTube app.
- Tap your profile picture.
- Go to your settings.
- Scroll down and select “Accessibility”.
- Enable “Accessibility Player”.
- Select “Hide player controls”.
- Select “After 3 seconds”.
You can also select “After 5, 10 or 30 seconds” instead of “After 3 seconds”.
You will now be able to skip certain parts of a video without activating exact search mode.
This is a temporary workaround to the problem until YouTube fixes it.
