How to Fix Google Assistant’s No Audio Issue on Xiaomi Phones

I’m an active Google Assistant user. I use it for everything, like setting alarms, checking quick info, or even searching for photos. However, last week, when I switched to Xiaomi Mi Note 3, Google Assistant didn’t work as expected.

Whenever I ask it anything, it shows me the expected result on the screen, however, no voice output. What a shame for a voice-based smart assistant, isn’t it?

1. Check Media Volume

So this is what I did initially. Although it’s a bit obvious, check your phone’s media volume. Sometimes, when you are watching a video during office hours, most of us usually turn the volume down and it tends to stay that way.

If that is not the case for you, you can skip directly to the next step. Otherwise, just crank up the sound.

Now all you need to do is enable ‘Ok Google’ detection and retrain the voice sample. However, make sure you’re doing it in a place where there’s no noise.

3. Check out Google’s Text-to-Speech Engine

Google’s text-to-speech feature is the engine that lets apps talk to you. In fact, it’s one of those apps that makes your Android phone powerful.

You may want to check if it was uninstalled by accident

While the app is installed on almost every Android phone, you might want to check if the app was accidentally uninstalled. To confirm, go to Settings > Additional Settings > Language & Input and scroll down to the Speech section.
