That way, you can only choose between titles that are more likely to impress you. Until Netflix decides to improve the browsing experience, check out these sites to find the highest-rated movies or TV shows on Netflix.
Wioflix
Wioflix stands for What is On Netflix? Using three different sources, it curates the best movies on Netflix and updates it weekly. It finds “best” according to ratings from Rotten Tomatoes, IMDB and Metacritic. Just click on the source you want to use on the Wioflix website and you will get a simple list.
Better yet, you can filter by genre or search for specific titles. As a bonus, if you use Metacritic, you can also see a list of the highest rated TV shows. The service also has options to just watch what’s new on Netflix (though you can already do that in Netflix) and a completely random selection if you’re feeling wild and spontaneous.
Wioflix is completely free to use and even has apps on Android and iOS.
Rotten tomatoes
If you’re a fan of the famous Rotten Tomatoes tomato meter, you’re in luck. Rotten Tomatoes has an entire section on its website dedicated to the most recent movies available on Netflix’s streaming service that have received generally positive reviews from critics. All you have to do is go to websiterottomatoes.com, hover over Movies & DVDs and then select Netflix Streaming.
You are taken to a vast network of movies available on Netflix for streaming. You can sort by gender, “freshness” on the tomato meter, and release date. Rotten Tomatoes even lets you play a trailer if you hover over a movie, something Netflix has yet to integrate.
Tip: Rotten Tomatoes helps you find the highest-rated movies on Flixster, iTunes, Vudu, Amazon, Amazon Prime, and HBO. Hover over the selector at the top of the movie grid to select the service you want to browse.
The best Netflix digital trends guide
Digital Trends has two great guides to the best TV shows available on Netflix’s streaming service and also the best movies. The team continuously updates both of these content on a monthly basis and they are extremely thorough, even divided into sections for different genres.
The current movie list has 126 titles, and among them, you’re bound to find one or a few movies to haunt. If you click on the names of the movies, you will be taken directly to the Netflix page where you can stream the movie or add it to your playlist.
