How To Export Contacts Saved on iPhone – Guiding Tech

dsc 00021

Contacts are the most important part of your phone, maybe even your life. On an iPhone, unless you sync them to a cloud service like iCloud or Gmail (which is easy to do), they’ll be locked. If you are switching to another phone and for some reason cannot sync with any service, we will tell you how to extract all contacts from your iPhone.

Share one contact at a time

iOS, unlike Android, does not have a built-in contact export/import feature. However, you can share contacts one by one. This is a pain in the ass but if you only have a handful of contacts and for some reason can’t download the app we’re about to cover below, try this.

go Contact app, tap the contact name and scroll down until you find it Share contact. This will bring up options for Message, Letters. Select the appropriate option if you want to send the contact as an email or SMS.

Export all your contacts with My Contacts Backup

Download My Contacts Backup for free. Open the app and give it access to your contacts.

This application is quite simple. it has a big Support button in the center of the screen. Tap it and the app will scan all your phone contacts and create one .vcf document.

Now the button will change to Email and tapping on it brings up the familiar Mail app pop-up. The .vcf file will be attached there. Email address and hit send.

Customize app settings

If you want to fine-tune the contact export process, you can do it from Setting.

First, you can change from vCard (vcf) to Excel (csv) Format. Below you will find a configure button.

This will allow you to turn off fields that you don’t want to export. Here you can turn off fields like note or URL.

What to do with the exported file?

Now that they are no longer on your old iPhone, the best thing to do with your contacts is to attach them to the email service of your choice. We recommend that you upload all your contacts to Gmail. This will make syncing with non-Apple devices easier. But you can also do the same with iCloud.

Hot Tip: You can sync multiple Gmail account contacts with one iPhone.

To import contacts into Gmail, go to google.com/contacts, click Than button and select Import. Now upload the file that you received in your email and all the contacts will show up.

If you want to import your contacts to your iCloud account, go to icloud.com and sign in. Access Contact and from Setting menu in the bottom left corner, select Enter vCard and upload files in your email.

Now, on your new iPhone, sign in with the same iCloud account and from Setting -> Mail, Contacts, Calendar -> icloudguaranteed Contact Enabled. All your contacts will now sync directly.

Where do you store your contacts?

Where do you keep your contacts? In the cloud or locally? How often do you back them up to your email? Let us know in the comments below.
