What Is an Unknown Tracker Alert
Let’s say that someone, intentionally or unintentionally, puts a Bluetooth tracker in your belongings like a handbag. So whenever the tracker device goes away from its owner, you will receive a tracking notification on your Android phone when it spots that tracker near you.
Someone from your friends or family may have unknowingly left his/her Bluetooth tracker with your belongings. You will receive an unknown tracker alert on your Android phone that an unknown tracking device is travelling with you. Do note that you won’t receive any such notification if the owner of that tracker is traveling with you. You can also receive alerts when you borrow someone else’s tracker.
How to Enable Unknown Tracker Alerts on Android
As of writing this post, you can only detect an AirTag near you with your Android phone. We hope that this feature also supports other Bluetooth trackers soon. Here’s how to enable it on your Android phone.
Step 1: Open the Settings app on your Android phone and select Safety And Emergency.
Step 2: Tap on Unknown Tracker Alerts.
Step 3: Tap the toggle next to Allow Alerts to enable the feature.
You will be asked to turn on your Bluetooth to find unknown trackers nearby using your Android phone. Tap on Turn On and then Allow to enable it.
After the feature is enabled, you can tap on Scan Now to know if an AirTag is tracking you.
How To Locate an Unknown Tracker Using Android
After you receive an unknown tracker notification on your Android phone, tap on it and you will see the directions to reach that tracker.
You can tap on Play Sound at the bottom-left corner to make the tracker make a sound. This will help you to spot it easily.
Once you find the tracker, tap on Next Steps at the bottom-right side and you will be guided about the next steps to take preventive measures and disable the tracker. You can always refer to the tracker’s manufacturer’s website to learn the steps for disabling it.
To get the tracker information, just bring up it near the back of your Android phone. Then you can take a screenshot to stay informed and report to the authorities.

How to Disable Unknown Tracker Alerts on Android
If you want to turn off unknown tracker alerts on your Android phone, here are the steps.
Step 1: Open the Settings app on your Android phone and select Safety And Emergency from the list of options.
Step 2: Tap on Unknown Tracker Alerts.
Step 3: Tap the toggle next to Allow Alerts to disable the feature. You can keep your Bluetooth turned on if you wish to.

You will receive unknown tracker alerts on your Android phone whenever it spots one that doesn’t belong to you. And this can also help your contacts to inform you when they locate your lost items. Another great safety feature for Android users is setting up emergency information.
This includes all your medical details like blood group, medications, current medical conditions, etc. These details can help medical personnel treat you better whenever you need assistance. You can also add your SOS contacts, which the medical personnel can reach without unlocking your phone.
