Before, emojis ruled the world, now GIFs and memes have taken over them. GIFs are fun because the conversation will be enhanced if you add a GIF to it. And they deserve credit because GIFs express our emotions so much better.
Similar to other social networking sites and chat apps, even Pinterest supports GIFs. Pinterest is an image discovery site where you find home decor ideas, recipes, style inspiration, DIY projects, etc.
Adding a GIF on Pinterest gives more information than a static image. You can create GIFs for your DIY projects or display all sides of the cushion with GIFs, which can be done by adding multiple photos.
But what if you like a GIF on Pinterest? How do you download it? That is what we will show you here. In this post, we will tell you how to download GIFs from Pinterest on your PC and mobile.
Start.
Download GIFs from Pinterest on mobile
There are two ways to do that:
Step 1: Navigate to the GIF you want to download.
Step 2: Tap the three-dot icon at the top and select Download image from the menu.
You’ll get a notification at the bottom saying after the image is saved. Open your gallery or camera roll and you’ll find the newly downloaded GIF there.

2. Download from GIF website
Sometimes the download button is missing from the GIF or downloading the GIF using the above method doesn’t work. Meaning it’s not animated and behaves like JPG or PNG. For such situations, you need to visit the website containing the GIF to download.
Note:
Here are the steps:
Step 1: Open the GIF or Pinterest video you want to download to your phone.
Step 2: Click the Access button present below the GIF. Pinterest will take you to the GIF’s website.
Step 3: Tap and hold on the GIF. If you get the option to Download or Save Image, tap it, otherwise tap the three-dot icon and select Open in browser.
Step 4: Once in the browser, tap and hold the GIF again until a menu appears. Click Download image.
Hopefully, the app will download GIFs on your mobile.
Download GIFs from Pinterest on computer
Here’s what you need to do.

Step 2: Click the three-dot icon above the GIF and select Download Image from the menu.
If for some reason the download button is missing, you need to resort to the help of its website. For that, click on the GIF’s link.
You will be taken to the GIF archive page. Here, right-click the GIF and select Save Image As… from the menu. Make sure the extension is .GIF. In some cases, you will have the option to Download videos.

Step 2: Click the Save from website option.
Step 3: Paste the GIF’s website link or direct link to the GIF and tap the little arrow next to the box. Alternatively, press the Enter key on your keyboard.

Step 5: Finally, add a description and select the board for the pin, then press the Save button.
Emoji vs GIF
The problem with emojis is that they are confusing. The same emoji can mean many different things to different people. For instance, adding a tongue emoji at the end of a text completely changes its meaning. Emojis are so damaging that they are now appearing in lawsuits due to the difference in meaning perceived by senders and recipients.
Thankfully, GIFs don’t have such dangerous effects because they only convey a single meaning. Long live GIFs.
