How to Disable Reactions Notifications on WhatsApp

What is reaction notification in WhatsApp

When someone reacts to your WhatsApp messages, media or files, you will receive a warning from the company about the same. You can check below screenshot for reference.

WhatsApp sends you reaction notifications for individual and group chats. It’s even more distracting in groups where you get a lot of reaction messages from other team members.

Turn off WhatsApp reaction notifications on Android

WhatsApp allows you to set custom notification tones, vibration patterns, call ringtones, and LED indicators for individual and group chats. However, the same is not available for responses. After you disable WhatsApp reaction notifications from settings, the app will shut down all your chats.

Step 1: Open WhatsApp on Android. Tap the three vertical dot menu in the top right corner and select Settings.

Step 2: Select Notifications.

Step 3: Disable the Reactive Notifications toggle in the Messages menu.

From now on, WhatsApp will not notify you when someone reacts to your sent messages.

Step 4: You can turn off Reactive Notifications for WhatsApp groups from the same menu.

Turn off message response notifications in WhatsApp for iPhone

You can also turn off message response notifications in WhatsApp for iPhone. Go through the steps below to make changes.

Step 1: Launch WhatsApp on your iPhone.

Step 2: Click the Settings icon in the lower right corner. Select Notifications.

Step 3: Disable the Reactive Notifications toggle for group and message notifications.

Turn off message response notifications on WhatsApp Desktop

WhatsApp offers feature-rich desktop apps on Windows and Mac. The company is working on native apps for both platforms, but they are still in beta and not perfect.

Also, WhatsApp doesn’t sync your notification preferences on the desktop. If you turn off WhatsApp’s reaction notifications on your phone, the company won’t disable the same on Windows or Mac. You continue to receive response notifications during business hours. Let’s disable it, shall we?

Step 1: Open WhatsApp on the desktop. Click the down arrow in the upper right corner.

Step 2: Select Settings.

Step 3: Open Notifications.

Step 4: Uncheck the box next to the ‘Show reaction messages’ option from the following menu.

How to check message response on WhatsApp

Now that you have turned off message reaction notifications on WhatsApp, the app will not send any warning about the same. To check the message response, you need to open the app and check them from the chat list.

Unlike new messages, WhatsApp will not put such conversations at the top.
